Profile backgrounds are so ugly. Why screenshots, not art? Can it be fixed?

First thing - I'm really really glad to see VC in Steam, it was the only game that could sell me PS3, and now I don't need it. I bought it immediately as soon as it appeared in Steam. Probably it's the last game from "good old" Sega, that we knew from Dreamcast times and earlier.

But one thing really disappoints me - profile backgrounds. Valkyria has a beautiful promo-art. Why developers used screenshots instead of this?

Why SEGA, why?

I don't know, is it possible or not, but I hope that developers will change backgrounds in the next patch. I'm sure that nobody will miss old backgrounds if this happens.

Please support this topic if you agree that we need new, beautiful profile backgrounds for Valkyria Chronicles.

While i also find the backgrounds... poorly made and chosen , i dont think they can really change them once it is out , it is out , even more today where this stuff goes to the steam market and people spend money buying/selling it.

I guess they could add more backgrounds , but i find it unlikely.

Whoever was in charge of the profile backgrounds / trading cart art really messed up. It's all incredibly ugly and jagged looking.

Yeah, I was disappointed in the backgrounds, too. I'm a sucker for good bonus art but I won't be grabbing the VC backgrounds, I'm afraid. I doubt they will (or even can) change them at this point but hopefully if they port the other VC games they will put a little more effort into them.

Some things for the devs to keep in mind for other releases:

1) Backgrounds 2 shades above pure black are annoying. There's nothing wrong with vibrant backgrounds. I don't know why so many games make their backgrounds super dark.

2) If the image has a specific focus, like a character, keep the focus off to the side so it isn't blocked by the profile itself. I saw someone with the Alicia background on their profile and Alicia's face was covered by the profile.

3) Use quality art, if at all possible.

Right now I have the Transistor background "Process Terminated" on my profile. That's a good example of a background done right. Vibrant, unique, well-made artwork not found in the game with a character off to the side so she isn't covered up bythe profile.

Yeap pretty much.

I bought the selvaria one on the market to test it and it looked ... really bad , she was mostly hidden under my profile. I did manage to resell for 3x what i bought it for , so atleast i didnt lose anything really.

lulz. People will always complain. Who cares about cards/backgrounds actually... No one except those who want to make money with that. There are tons of VC backgrounds in... google....
