Those of us that have thorougly enjoyed the game the past years, naturally want to make a review.
If you are into the type of genre that this game is in, then you will not be dissapointed.

1. Lot's of RNG.
Of course this might be a selling point for some people, I do enjoy some amount of RNG but most everything is decided by RNG. From the quality of the sniper you're building to which body part it's bullet will hit once fired. You can get really unlucky in combat and lose a colonist to an headshot or severed leg.
2. Lot's of Micromanagement.
The AI can sometimes be incredibly dumb, how many times have I had to manualy tell my colonists to grab that 75 metal pile instead of that 10 metal pile when hauling to build. There is a lot of micromanagement in combat as well. With no hold fire button and LOTS of friendly fire, you need to constantly position your colonists correctly. Also you want them armored but wearing armor outside of combat slows them down, so you'll have them manually wear all armor yourself and then remove it after combat.
3. Lack of trade ships/opportunities to get rid of stockpiles.
This will probably be tweaked or modded but in the last alpha, the amount of trade ships is incredibly low... In a game that lasted 1 year I only got 1 trade ship and it was textiles trader that wouldn't buy my animals or prisoners.
All of these can easily be fixed with time and the game is still in alpha, so despite all this I DEFINITELY recommend this game.
You can select 'All languages' to see them but one is a russian review and the other one is an english troll review.
2 addictive cant stop playing it ;)
Thanks.
By the way the Russian one is also pretty trolly.
its been in development for years allready. Theres alot of youTube vids, etc, that show its progression.
I played older versions of RimWorld for a very long time. But i have not yet played this Steam releaase yet. So I can not say what is good or bad in this version. yet.
I will hazzard a guess though, that it has only gotten better (the dev never stopped fixing everything that broke as he added more and more content to the game) and most likely more complicated.
Right. First let me say. I really, really liked playing RimWorld before. So much so, its one of the few games that i've played for over 3,ooo hours; and i fully intend to start playing this Steam Release of RimWorld as soon as possible. (when i have hours and hours to spend.... without interuptions.)
The only thing (apart from the bugs that are common with games in development) was dealing with RNG. What i mean by that, is everything is going great. Your building, researching, getting more minnions, winning some battles, getting nice loot. Then WHAM !! RNG just went balistic. No rain... a lightening storm... forest fires... raiders x2 or 3 & 1 of them are alien/robot/monsters. A mental breakdown while fighting fires while engaged in a firefight... and then a battery explosion and base fire while survivors are in the hospital...
...... lol, it's a riot. (i do blame Randy Random.. even if i it was my fault for selecting that option ^^ -only a few times did thigs trully go FUBAR on Cassandra Classic - i never played Phoebe Base Builder.
Thats about it. (and to be honest... it was stuff like that which kept me coming back for more, oh, and being able to reload a save game and try again without needing to start from the begging every time i failed.)
PS: some additional stuff that's probably not around anymore
1: oh.. massive map wide forest fires.. caused some serious game breaking stutter / lag /
2: not a single bionic part for years... sometimes no space traders at all.
3: rampaging exploding ROUS's , "burning ring of fire", lol.
4: when deseases became a "thing". lol/.
-but its all pretty minor stuff.. jsut typical 'growing' pains from a good game in its development.
Good luck deciding if you'll give RimWorld a play. I hope you do. I think its well worth its price. >",.,"<
