No Negative Reviews - A Little Disconcerting
The title pretty much says it all. This game looks really cool, like something I might really want to play. But the complete lack of negative reviews makes me nervous, wondering if the devs or community are trying to censor dissent.

So I was hoping that, having read all the really nice things about this game, you guys could lay out some mistakes or stumbles in its design. Obviously, no game is perfect, not even the best ones. I mean no disrespect to the game you love, but please, criticize as brutally as you can so those who haven't bought it yet can hear about the whole of this game.

you can always check reviews outside of steam?..and all those positive reviews are from players who have had the game for years now..so if you want to read a negative review..i suggest waiting one day or something..for new players who never experienced it to review it..since..can you really trust a reviewer whos never played it outside steam and with less 3 hours play time?
i've played for awhile before steam. late game get lack luster been times where you get raid so hard ur left with nothing kinda lol at that. had it crash cause mods to load right ect normal ass bugs for a game still beening made.

Remember that people who have played this game since early kickstarter, got their steam keys and played for at least the required 5 min to make their review. Some of us have 500+ if not more hours in the game.
Those of us that have thorougly enjoyed the game the past years, naturally want to make a review.
If you are into the type of genre that this game is in, then you will not be dissapointed.

I don't see how the community could be censoring anything here, and I've followed development long enough to know that Tynan takes constructive criticism in stride and values the opinions of all of his pawn- er, customers. All the reviews you are seeing are likely long time players who got the Steam keys and are trying to ensure that the game catches on, or people who are reviewing based on hype and likely haven't played enough yet to truly give an honest opinion on it. Like Freyar said, give it some time and you should see a consensus form.

Just follow some Lets Play from Blitzkriegsler (or your favorite streamer) and soon you will see that once in a while Steam also sells some pearls burried under all that junk.

Does anyone know which language to select, to read the two negative reviews?

Even if there are no negative reviews a lot of the positive ones mention the downsides of this game. Here are mine:

1. Lot's of RNG.

Of course this might be a selling point for some people, I do enjoy some amount of RNG but most everything is decided by RNG. From the quality of the sniper you're building to which body part it's bullet will hit once fired. You can get really unlucky in combat and lose a colonist to an headshot or severed leg.

2. Lot's of Micromanagement.

The AI can sometimes be incredibly dumb, how many times have I had to manualy tell my colonists to grab that 75 metal pile instead of that 10 metal pile when hauling to build. There is a lot of micromanagement in combat as well. With no hold fire button and LOTS of friendly fire, you need to constantly position your colonists correctly. Also you want them armored but wearing armor outside of combat slows them down, so you'll have them manually wear all armor yourself and then remove it after combat.

3. Lack of trade ships/opportunities to get rid of stockpiles.

This will probably be tweaked or modded but in the last alpha, the amount of trade ships is incredibly low... In a game that lasted 1 year I only got 1 trade ship and it was textiles trader that wouldn't buy my animals or prisoners.

All of these can easily be fixed with time and the game is still in alpha, so despite all this I DEFINITELY recommend this game.

You can select 'All languages' to see them but one is a russian review and the other one is an english troll review.

The learning curve is STEEP an the endgame is a little lacking due to being in early access. That said, this is pretty much the ONLY game I've played over the past year, at an average of like 20 hours a week. The possiblities are endless, and it's maddeningly addictive. Your mileage may vary, but if you like deep real-world strategy games then RimWorld absolutely lives up to the hype.

the only reason for a negative review could be atm:

2 addictive cant stop playing it ;)

Sure. I can play a devils advocate... but i do like this game. So you know which way i'm already leaning. >'.'<

its been in development for years allready. Theres alot of youTube vids, etc, that show its progression.

I played older versions of RimWorld for a very long time. But i have not yet played this Steam releaase yet. So I can not say what is good or bad in this version. yet.

I will hazzard a guess though, that it has only gotten better (the dev never stopped fixing everything that broke as he added more and more content to the game) and most likely more complicated.

Right. First let me say. I really, really liked playing RimWorld before. So much so, its one of the few games that i've played for over 3,ooo hours; and i fully intend to start playing this Steam Release of RimWorld as soon as possible. (when i have hours and hours to spend.... without interuptions.)

The only thing (apart from the bugs that are common with games in development) was dealing with RNG. What i mean by that, is everything is going great. Your building, researching, getting more minnions, winning some battles, getting nice loot. Then WHAM !! RNG just went balistic. No rain... a lightening storm... forest fires... raiders x2 or 3 & 1 of them are alien/robot/monsters. A mental breakdown while fighting fires while engaged in a firefight... and then a battery explosion and base fire while survivors are in the hospital...
...... lol, it's a riot. (i do blame Randy Random.. even if i it was my fault for selecting that option ^^ -only a few times did thigs trully go FUBAR on Cassandra Classic - i never played Phoebe Base Builder.

Thats about it. (and to be honest... it was stuff like that which kept me coming back for more, oh, and being able to reload a save game and try again without needing to start from the begging every time i failed.)

PS: some additional stuff that's probably not around anymore
1: oh.. massive map wide forest fires.. caused some serious game breaking stutter / lag /
2: not a single bionic part for years... sometimes no space traders at all.
3: rampaging exploding ROUS's , "burning ring of fire", lol.
4: when deseases became a "thing". lol/.
-but its all pretty minor stuff.. jsut typical 'growing' pains from a good game in its development.

Good luck deciding if you'll give RimWorld a play. I hope you do. I think its well worth its price. >",.,"<

Why in the world of refunds are people still afraid? Buy it and give it an hour and see if you like it. If not return it. The game in my opinion is a blast and worth every penny but everyone is different.

if youve played prison arcitect its similar in how the game machanics are but just a survivle game instead. ignore my spelling :P
