It matters :)
I also deconstruct the manky furniture and remake it working toward everyone having good or better items. If your guys live under a mountain then smooth the walls .. or knock out the cave walls and replace them with bricks.
Or have a statue every 5 paces ofc ;)
flower pots are also a decent beauty item...I try to have one in every room.
if you bed and dressers are made in poor qualety they will still be ugly. you can check this in the info pannel with the furniture selected.
making higher qualety can take some time and need a somewhat skilled pawn to make it. (even better if they are inspired.)
also you can see the room stats with some of the icons in the lower right. there is one that looks like some statisics bar and one with a face profile. click one of them and move to the room you wanne inspect. click again on the icon to make it go away.
maybe those smooth tiles and flowers are not enough to off set the bad things.
rooms can also be dirty
One thing to think of using, is the Toggle switch for the Room Beauty Overview List
Its located on the bottom right, its a toggle you click to turn that function ON/OFF.
That will show you at a quick glance total Positives (wealth, etc) and Negatives (dirt) for each room you hover over with youor pointer. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1551402158
To repeat others, dirt and badly made furniture really are an eye sore. Better to have NO bad furniture.
Good luck have fun.
Or is it a mod?
This, although art beauty value contributions to a room seem to have been nerfed in one of the last updates. It still does work though and if you have a pawn with a passion for art then making art is a good way to keep them happy. Art is still a really great way to boost faction too, by gifting it. Even the awful and poor stuff will up your faction 2 or 3 points each.
Same youtuber also suggested making a gold or silver floor tile in the room, to boost the dollar-value of the room. Total value of all the stuff in the room counts as much as beauty and cleanliness. And remove any chunks or slag and ffs keep it clean.
5x5 internal space with marble walls, stone tile floors, one silver tile, marble bed, two nightstands and a dresser should come in around "slightly impressive" when sparkly clean.
