Exporter Troubleshooting FAQ
This will surely grow in the coming days as we figure out the various problems, workarounds for some, fixes for others. Hang tight :)

I'm getting “Fatal Vehicle Exception”
For many that seems to be due to mods they have installed in BeamNG. Specifically some turbo mod seems to be causing issues. Try to run BeamNG entirely clean with JUST your Automation cars added. If it runs fine then and the vehicles work, the issue is due to mod incompatibility.

The car spawns under ground / doesn't really spawn
In most cases that seems to be due to a mod conflict between installed BeamNG mods and the Automation car. Make absolutely sure you have no conflicting BeamNG mods running, mods removed and unsubscribed, cache cleared. Then try to export again.

My car crashes the game as soon as I hit Export
To look into that we'll need your .car file, please send it to support@camshaftsoftware.com with a brief description of what is happening.

Failed to delete or write to zip. Error
The exporter was extensively tested, and the failed to write zip we picked up were all due to overzealous antivirus or randsomware protection.

1) This is primarily caused by either AntiVirus programs or Windows Defender.
To see if this is the cause. Please disable any AntiVirus, Windows Defender Periodic Scanning (turn Ransomware Detection Off) and turn off Controlled Folder access. If Automation can then successfully write the zip file, one of those was stopping Automation. And you may have to add BeamNG.drive userpath [1] and/or Automation's exes [2] to various exception lists in the software.

2) You change BeamNGs startup.ini [3]
... so that BeamNG uses a different userpath (E.g. C:\BeamNG ). Automation will automatically detect and read this (so long as steam is running).

[1] The default beamng.drive userpath is Documents\BeamNG.Drive
[2] You can find the location of your Automation install and the relevant exe files by right clicking on it in Steam. Properties, Local Files, Browse Local Files.
  • Automation Launcher Steam.exe
  • WindowsNoEditor\AutomationGame.exe
  • WindowsNoEditor\AutomationGame\Binaries\Win64\AutomationGame-Win64-Shipping.exe (64bit)
  • WindowsNoEditor\AutomationGame\Binaries\Win32\AutomationGame-Win32-Shipping.exe (32bit)
[3] Found in BeamNG's install folder. You can find the location of your BeamNG.drive install, by right clicking on it in Steam. Properties, Local Files, Browse Local Files.

lol can't you as the developer do something why is it left to the consumer to do 3-4 hours of programming in order to play your game you designed , I payed for the game why should I have to do Your job? why is My antivirus picking your game up as malware? why can I not export .Why do I need to goto school to learn computer science to play Your game? just fix the game guys it is very simple - if we have to do all this crap in order to export why is there not a patch to pix save paths , searching paths ect? I dont want to pay 60-70$ buying beam ng and automation just to sit for 5 hours trouble shooting the reason I bought Your game
@FireFrost
Antivirusses are supposed to flag anything remotely suspicious to
A: show that they work and so advocate themselves
B: because there's such a vast amount of patterns malware can have that it's to be expected to have outliers once in a while and
C: you probably set it to overly aggressive and just cut it any rights to do anything outside its installation and documents folder

You don't have to study to understand that and the effort of learning to deal with that stuff is certainly not wasted.
And why would you selecting the path beforehand change anything with what rights your PC grants Automation?

Besides if fixing the game "is very simple" why don't you just handle it?
Right - because you have no idea what you're talking about. -.-

Afterall it's not up for the developers to fix YOUR PC.
Neither is it too much to ask to deal with YOUR firewalls and settings on your own - even idiots can manage that if they're just willing to try.

If you can't handle it buy a console pleb.
Damn people like you trigger me hard.

TL;DR:
Aren't you an unique entitled snowflake? So cute. And now piss off.

As Darkier and Edgier points out correctly, we have no authority over your computer, if you have set it up such that the game requires permission to run, and we would breach that, then indeed Automation would be malware. So you are contradicting yourself to a degree. Indeed you are responsible for your computer, the only thing we can do is point that out to you. The difference here is that Automation is trying to access a folder that has nothing to do with itself, hence why so many malware protections kick off. Nothing we can do about it - without being proper effective malware ;)

I've tried each of these solutions but still no dice. Would there be a way to implement manual exporting for the people that can't solve the problem?

So what happens for you? What error message do you get?

Edit: Fixed, see update below if anyone else is running AVG and has writing to zip issues

I've tried exporting my car with AVG switched off, and I've made sure my BeamNG startup ini points to the correct location, however in Automation I'm still getting the following error

Export Status
Failed to delete or write to zip.
Please check to see if you Anti-Virus or Windows
Defender settings (e.g. Controlled folders) are
stopping Automation from accessing C:\Users\zacye\Documents\BeamNG.drive\mods.

Any help would be appreciated

Update: Turns out completely disabling AVG didn't change anything, but keeping AVG running and only disabling ransomware protection fixed my problem

I still get the same "Failed to delete or write to zip" error message. I've gone through the process of disableing ransomware protection and relocating the ini file.

There must be something else blocking it still then :( maybe protected folders in windows?

Nope. I'm seriously stumped, I've followed all the instructions and I still can't export the car. No checkbox or anything. How can people we export the cars manually?

That that point we are out of ideas then :s something on your system if keeping Automation from writing the file. Some have said that turning ransomware detection off worked for them only if they didn't turn off the AV also. There is no manual way of exporting the car. You said though that you "relocated" the ini file, did you mean you edited the ini file and changed the path in it? Relocating it wouldn't be the right move.

Is there a way you could do a video capture of your screen playing Automation at the menu and doing some things so it would be easier to see what you are talking about and maybe help.

Yeah, I've been getting the same error as above - claiming that this particular folder is protected by antivirus too strictly. Thing is, this error only started occuring after the latest patch. In any event, I temporarily removed the appropriate folder from antivirus protection and now I just get the freeze on LUA EXPORTING mentioned above. So nothing has changed on my PC since it worked other than the latest patch being downloaded...not sure if this on our end or something odd possibly edge casey your QA may not have picked up in testing. But again, it worked prior to the latest patch so I imagine *something* has changed on your end with the patch.

The Orbit camera in the Mercedes Benz 190 body breaks BeamNG.

When exporting as of today (and only today), BeamNG produces the following error; with a different reason for the same line of code for each new vehicle. No new mods were added between my last successful ones and these ones.
