My Witcher 3 Experience
So this is my Witcher 3 story, Note that I haven’t played it in a long time so my memory my be a little sketchy.

I found the inventory management to be stressful it felt like a mess it wasn't clear on the stuff like bonus damage with heavy swords or being able to access potions and items easily.

The combat was ok I found it to be flexible and reasonably enjoyable though I thought the levelling system was a bit pointless and unrewarding.

Now my biggest problem with the game, The pacing is terrible I hated The Red Barron story line it was boring and a waste of time it felt like an endless spiral into nothingness the whole quest can be summed up like this

https://youtu.be/1CNddEz9dak?t=525

That’s what it feels like it's the worst quest I have ever played in a video game
I was more interested in Ciri and her storyline and I would have liked her to be the
Main character instead of Geralt

Then there is the world I don't know why but found it to be incredibly bland it looked wonderful but I found it to be underwhelming and uninteresting that’s the best way I can describe it.

As I said I haven’t played it in a long time so this is the best way I can describe my experience and despite all I have said hear I still feel like it is a game I could enjoy
but I just find it to be so frustrating and annoying I want to know how your Experience was in comparison to mine.

BTW sorry for my grammar.

My experience is the exact opposite to yours. I think it was the greatest in all my years in gaming. And... I do not play the games that frustrates me. If you think the Bloody Baron quest was boring then deep and heavy story driven RPG is not for you, because that quest has gotten crap loads of praise everywhere.

Btw, you don't even have this game on your library and judging by the games you do have, then TW3 will deffo not catch you.

Baron quests have somewhat good, or even best dialogues and events in the game, but in a shell this questline is the worst kind of padding, its basically "yeah I can tell you all I know so you can proceed the story but I'd like you to run a few really long errands for me first".

Other than that OP is clearly a person who prefers gameplay and variety over story and graphics, which is something I support a lot.

Thank you for all the replies. Those are some excellent and interesting explanations/opinions.

Personally I felt quite it was ok to complete most of the Skellige quests. Yen screwed up a lot over there. So I just imagined that Geralt was forced to stay to pay for her sins by Yarls, while Yen was investigating how to lift the curse.

Staying in Novigrad for more than necessary felt like when Geralt spent winter in Toussaint in Lady of The Lake book, he just could not move on.

I have it on PS4.

The Blood Baron quest is actually quite deep, especially if you will get "bad ending". Many dismiss that this game not only about Ciri, but aswell about last witchers and nature of humans. It's not like those quests are smth about planescape level, they are pretty obvious. The purpose of Velen to add frustration and show basic human instintcs and true nature.

That's surprising. I think that's one of the best quests in the entire game, and possibly one of the best I've seen in any game. So much depth of character, so many twists and turns, some very well done voice acting and genuine emotion in the Bloody Baron/Family Matters pair of quests.

Even folks who don't like this game seem to like this part of it, at least.

I did not like the Baron.

After the Nilfgaard guy making me do a side quest for stale old information I really wanted to stab the fat guy in the eye repeatedly until he told me what I wanted. That there was no way around his forced quest was no fun at all.

I couldn't even kill him at the end. Boy, did I want to stab him in the face.

Make of that what you will.

I played the game again recently and I think the worst part of the game is the world, Totalbiscuit once said that skyrim has the expansiveness of an ocean but with the depth of a puddle The Witcher 3 on the other hand has the expansiveness of the sahara desert and I’ll leave the depth up to your imagination, I feel like I was coming up against constant barriers for what I needed whether it be health or items, There is nothing telling you what shops are which and what they sell.

I think I am going to sell the game I’ve given it so many chances to be good but I’ve had enough.

I love the game, enjoyed it so much. But a few things bothered me:

Too long dialogues with some merchants. I just want to quickly sell/buy something instead of hearing the same (sometimes long) dialogues again, yea I know you can skip them but still.

When pressing M to check the map it takes like 2 seconds to load, rather have it instantly even tho that might be too much to ask.

Horse is getting stucked too often

Some easy to reach ledges and platforms can't be reached sometimes espeically when in the water.

Some bugs like sometimes Geralt doesn't draw his weapon while in encounters and sometimes the diving doesn't work when in water.

It's not rocket science. Most merchants sell general type stuff from food to some gear and crafting materials. Armorers sell and repair armor. Blacksmiths sell and repair weapons. Herbalists sell herbs and recipes. Alchemists selling basically the same but there are fewer of them in the game.

Seriously, this is what's troublesome to you? Are you exploring at all and looting everything in sight? Because if you would just do that, you'd be leveling up just fine, revealing new areas and possibly rescuing even more traders from which you could do business and finding tons of loot. Most of that can be used for crafting and alchemy and the rest can be sold for cash.

No idea what sort of barriers you're coming up against but if you feel frustrated, then it's clearly not the game for you.

I’m saying it doesn’t tell you this on the map it just shows you a bag and I found myself going back and forth between villages to find a person that can sell me what I need.

I did loot a lot of stuff but I found it to be mostly alchemy related, After awhile you I just couldn't be bothered because I found the world to be so boring.

And I have played games like this before so it's not like I'm not into the genre.

Lol the only barrier for me was that merchant didn't have enough gold to sell my loot. That was way back before storage patch. Most of the time I travel on roach or ship because of encumbered.

That's how I found Skyrim's much-lauded open world....rather empty, bland and boring. Tell me this one is better please since I've just bought the game.

Not to fear. Everything about Witcher 3 is better than Skyrim, by a very wide margin.

The saddest part about my experience is that I feel like this is a game I could enjoy but I just can't because of all the reasons I have stated.
