Plus this copy pasta "The game uses a more cartoonish look than those of Civilization V, as according to Firaxis, with much deeper gameplay, they wanted to keep the visuals simple to avoid interfering with the complexity of gameplay. The graphics of individual units and buildings are being developed to be both readily-detailed when viewed in a tight zoom, while still being recognizable from other similar units when viewed from a distance. This necessitated the simpler art style to allow players to quickly recognize units and buildings while looking over a city without having to resort to user interface tooltips or similar distractions, according to Shirk. Individual units will be designed to include flair associated with the given civilization, such as applying different helmet styles to the same class of footsoldier units."
Yeah, it was also clear from early forum polls on a lot of sites. Including CivFanatics and official forums on 2K. And that was before a lot of people changed their mind and expressed like for the style.
So is Bambi, and The Lion King, and Space Battleship Yamato, and Ranma 1/2, and FLCL.
<--- 45 years old. Thinks Civ6's graphics are just fine and dandy.
Well, good for you. I hope, you will enjoy this game - that's all i can say....
In the end, the game is finished, and we can't do anything about it.
What I do not enjoy, is the nonsense conflation of "cartoon" = "childish" = "low quality".
If it's not to your taste, that's fine - not everyone has to like the same things. But there's no need to try and justify that dislike with some under-thought "it is childish and I am an adult so I am SUPPOSED to dislike it" nonsense.
Just say you don't care for the aesthetic of it, and move on. Yeesh. I mean, seriously, suggesting your young daughter will lose respect for you because you're "a grownup" and might enjoy something with cartoon graphics?? Ridiculous nonsense.
If that's for me....
I never meant anything about "low quality".
And WHY? WHY people here don't have a sence of humor at all? )))))
I joked. I SAID that was a joke. TWICE!!!! - and people again treat those words seriously? Really? by the stars....just forget those words, ok? =)))
In fact' i agree too. Right now, i'm playing "crypt of the necrodancer" - and that's not the "cartoons" that let games be good, or bad.
It's not a distraction. It's a help for players to see what is happening in the game.
I have to admit, looks very 'cartoon-y'. For instance, was looking at a pic of Russian Cossack and his horse. The horse is very much anthropomorphic...looking at the Russian with his eyebrows ♥♥♥♥♥♥, kind of grimacing... YUCK. Not my idea of how a Civ game should look.
Will still buy but will have to turn off all animations, etc. Limit having to see all the cartoon antics. :(
If you intend humor, label it as such in the same post.
Because, you know what? I've had this same argument against someone who said the same general sort of things you "joked" about AND THEY WERE DEAD-AS-A-DOORNAIL SERIOUS.
There isn't a <sarcasm> font, yet. You have to make the labelling much more blatant.
Read my messages again, please. that all i will say now.
You want to get serious? Fine.
Wou want it - you got it:
Civ6 have TERRIBLE terrain textures (from youtube), terrible unit art-desingn and good (actually, not just good - VERY good, somehow grotesque) leader's personalities.
Any objections on this ?
I am not a mindreader. There is not - nor did you use - a <sarcasm> font, nor an <I'm only joking font. There was no way to know you were joking, since we couldnt' s your facial expressions or read your body language and when you posted that you didn't indicate that it was a joke.
Whch means at this point, you're upset because people took you at your word, and had the audacity to believe you actually meant what you said. Gasp, the horror, gasp.
As such? No, that's your opinion. I disagree, but such is the nature of opinions.
And people actually call ME a boring tedious nerd.... xDDDD
funny)
PS: that was also a joke....=)))
Well, if you disagree, maybe you can show me good, high-resolution terrain textures in this game?
Nicely animated trees ? Awesome water reflections, no?
Or you will say, that in 2016 year, 21-th century games dont need those things?
