Promotion available, but no buttons to promote?

So how do i promote my units? There are no buttons at all that allow me to promote them...

They have to have movement points available for the button to show up.

Have to have what now? Its been in the same spot for multiple turns now, and each turn i try to upgrade him, but still get no options to do so.

Ok, i thought maybe movement points were something new, but they arent. I get movement points each turn, but the unit still gets no options to promote, even though it says "promotion available"

Ok, i dont know what happened, but i had to move the unit off of its tile, wait a turn, then move him back and could then promote him. Seems like a bug to me.

Just experienced the same issue, Got told my Unit was available for promotion couldn't do anything + had movement points available. I believe it might have something to do if your unit is considered "in danger" aka near barb/enemy. I moved out of range of a nearby barb scout and the button showed up for promotion.

Curious if that was the issue you ran into? Were you near "danger" lol.

Yes, afterward i did find a barbarian scout a few tiles away.

Promotions come with a full heal, I've used them right next to enemies for great effect. I don't think being in danger has anything to do with it. My guess is units that are in sleep or fortify are treated as if they already used up their turn.

Have only been able to promote units in territory my cities control. Hasn't worked anywhere else for me in several games.

I think you are confusing upgrade and promote. Upgrading is when you spend gold to change the unit into a more advanced version, this can only be done in your territory. Promoting happens when the unit gains a level, and can be done anywhere on the map.

Yeah I played for like 5 hours last night and finally figured out what was going on. Sometimes when you have a unit pathing somewhere or to some affect like that you have to hit the cancel button on the unit and then the promotion button shows up. So you do have to have movement available but if you have them doing something already hit that cancel button and you should be able to promote them.

Also seems the Computer cant count sometimes, had a unit who was missing 5 xp, but was beeing marked as "has earned a promotion" even though he obviously didnt.

I can tell you I've promoted a unit during a siege before. So I doubt it's something to do with in danger.

i have seen "Promotion available!" after + xp and never get promotion available, I think it comes up faultily which is weird.

Promotion button doesn't show up if the unit is sleeping or fortified.

Or if there are no movement points left. You need at least one movement left to promote a unit.
