Why all armor such pointless?

Im now somewere on mid of nude (armorless) playthrough and... Not sure, if I have any problems with it. Only noticable difference was with poison defence - without it, like one bat may poison you

armor helps to soak some damage but not all of it, meanwhile a naked character rolls longer and faster avoiding a lot of damage... I just use "armor" to nullify poison and some elemental damages... Evanescent set is great for it, light and high elemental defense.

Unfortunately in most of these kinds of games its difficult to really make armour as good as fast rolls because its literally an invincibility button. At least greatshields are okay if you have a heavy weapon to retaliate with....

Heavy armor is good as long as you have the endurance to do fast rolling. because then theres no disadvantage. Also I like the looks of some of those heavy gear. And having defence means I can be lazy with dodge rolling and still dont have to worry to much about getting hit. Also not everyone is amazing with their dodge rolls.

with rank 2 heavy amors you can easely get up to 60% defence on physical attacks, to me it's more than noticable, i almost find it mandatory, i can tank twice as many hits against most enemies as i would without armor, the only thing is to keep equip load below fat roll limit if i'm not using a shield

I used heavy armor and a greatsword on my first playthrough, fat rolling all over the place and tanking attacks on my face. Worked decently well.
Second playthrough, I went Dex and wore light armor. Better rolling, but getting hit definitely hurt more.
On my third playthrough, I went the magic route and was bare-ass naked for the super-fast rolls and incredibly long jumps. Ever since then, all my characters have gone through the game almost, if not completely naked, and it's working so much better than anything previous.

titan set has very high poise i just r1 the crap out of every annoying trash mob without getting interrupted on ng7 lol try it at mire of stench

Well, there's not only defense to take into account, just like in Souls games poise is a factor too, in fact I'd say it's more importante than the defenses itself. I don't find heavy armors useless, not at all, get a tower shield and a heavy armor with decent poise and you can cheese most of the game.

Ashen shield +5 or above is enough, actually :D

Ikr, my 1st character was swordsman. But still - while armor makes game easily, if you dont know how to roll, thats not necessary (except for bitсh of the lake, maybe)

u cant beat RNG of the lake beyond ng+ without a shield unless ur really lucky. check youtube for the winning videos there isnt 1 occurrence of that dark homing ball + arcane barrage in any of them

Poise is good for pvp as well. Unless there is no stagger in pvp.

whatever. Its still not as hard, if you know her skills. Three Kings as melee was much harder

i explained a simple situation where its impossible to get out of i can beat her on ng+7 with bare fists on first try like nothing as long as she doesnt do the aforementioned combo twice with no space left for running but the more health she has greater the chance of that crap happening, her entire moveset is incredibly easy if u take them into account one by one, u dont even have to babysit her to move to another spot in the boss area, obviously u were on a lucky streak

only problem with her is that sometimes she moves out of screen, which makes dodge from her rainbow of justice kinda hard
