Game Runs, but no sound.
My game runs fine, but has no sound. I am currently running a Multiple monitor setup, connecting my laptop with a monitor through an HDMI cable. The sound comes out fine when I disconnect my HDMI cable and playing on my laptop, but disappears when playing on the monitor. I think it's the different driver audios. (Intel vs HD Audio)

For Now, I can plug in headphones to my Laptop Audio jack for a quick fix, but a more permanent solution would be appreciated. Thanks!

This doesn't seem like something related to a video game, if I'm honest. One of the cool things about HDMI is that it's not only a way of connecting a monitor, but it can transmit sound as well. Normally, in desktops however connecting a screen via HDMI doesn't defaults the sound output to HDMI, but in Laptops it's quite a normal behavior.

Simply plug in your monitor and follow the guide - it should work similar on a latop (names may be different depending on a vendor), just make sure that instead of using HDMI for sound playback, you choose laptop speakers or whatever you want to use.

Thanks, Suicide machine, but it must be software related, since this is the only game with said issue. (no sound coming from the game.) every other software seems to output the sound fine, except this one.

My guess is that since the game uses DirectX for sound, it is outputting to the wrong driver/Device.I ran dxdiag.exe to check which driver is being used. Currently my laptop uses HdAudio.sys while my monitor uses IntcDAud.sys.

I can use my laptop for default sound playback but that seems counter productive since the speakers on my HDTV are better. Like I said, if there is some sort of patch to resolve the issue it would be great.

Just wanted to add here, three years in the future, that this just happened to me after downloading the new Father's Promise DLC. I ran dxdiag.exe based on this thread and DirectX thinks I have no sound card installed. No clue why, but thank you for mentioning the exe.

So, what worked for me, by the way, was I had to go into the Sound settings in the control panel and uncheck (for each of my playback devices) "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device." I did it for each of them under "Recording" too, just to be safe. It works now on all of my audio outputs :-)
