there is an achievment for that. He will be ok but you need to pay him

When you visit the port and talk to the guy, he'll visit your place in a few days or so.

When he does, in order to do the port escape, you must pay him 8 diamonds/jewelry. This is your only chance to do so.

Once you paid up, you'll get your documents for transport. He'll come back again in a few days or so after payment.

Once he asks if you are ready to go, say yes, and that's the end.

Best places to get the jewelry needed could be from the guy in Sniper Junction after saving him. (I believe you get 5 jewelry.)

Also, try the looted gas station. Read the note in the station, then take a saw blade to the basement there. (4 jewelry down there.)
