@YamaKami As someone who has spent hundreds of hours in VR it absolutely is not a gimmick. I've also experienced that the most ardent believers in VR being a gimmick are people who have a poor experience trying some cheap Phone VR and not an actual quality headset. There is a massive difference in quality between my phone and my Vive and now my Index Headset. The only valid complaint would be towards a lack of quality games, but we are no longer at the point where there is no content and Valve is working on 3 full VR games, the first of which is supposed to be released later this year. SkyrimVR alone is almost a transcendant experience and that is just a crappy VR port of an over-released game that is still worth buying a headset for on it's own.

TLDR; VR is amazing IMO, everyone should at least try VR on a quality headset and make their own minds up.

Great that the team are so dedicated and that this is yet another free update. Kudos to all.

However,, these new features mean nothing to me. I must be one of the very few that was happy the game wasn't multiplayer at the start and have no intention of playing with anyone else. I just hope this update doesn't get in the way of the SP experience.

As for VR. I had an Oculus but sold it a while ago as I found the whole experience to be more hassle than its worth. Too many wires, too fiddly to setup and be comfortable and it leaves you completely isolated. If you want to reach for a drink you have a problem! I mainly played Elite and I must say it os well worth experiencing, it does bring a whole new scale and dimension to the game but the text can be tricky to focus on and some of the sharpness just isn't there. I know there are many tricks and config settings, and I did spend many hours tweaking - but that highlights my point about the hassle!
