so .. seriously what is the point of NMS?
I mean , exploration obviously and its fun
discovering planets (even though all the planets already have outposts and life on them so why am i considered the one discovering them is beyond me)
Finding life forms
Limited interaction with one of 3 races

But what is the point ?

There seems to be an infinite number of galaxies to start the whole process over again , little to no story and no missions beyond Atlas
why should i go exploring more planets beyond the first few hundred ?
why should i continue to restart the whole get to the galactic core process
Whats the motivation ?
is that it ?

any ideas ?

What's the point of collecting stamps when there will be a new collection released every month?

If you can't get lost in the exploration of a planet that looks great when you find it. I suggest you move on to a different game. You won't find anything else here to do until they update something like quests or a new story line for people like you. You probably crave an actual plot with cinematics, dialogue that's more than a paragraph or two. Maybe an annoying voice that calls your name over and over telling you to do various tasks besides "life support is low"(75%). I can tell you what I like to do. I'll roleplay a different type of personality that's been crashed on whichever planet I'm on. And I do things that, that personality would do. I'll dig caves through mountains. I'll start a war with the sentinels and animals. I'll find one of those monoliths with a ball and bring it up to a mountain and let it roll down it. I'll try and find all the animals on a planet and then give up half way through. I'll try and put my initials on big lumps of minerals with my laser beam. I'll star gaze on planets or in space. I take screenshots and sometimes even upload them. I'll try and feed all the animals on a planet, well at least the friendly ones. Right now I'm trying to fit as many upgrades into my exosuit and starship as I can. Even the ones I don't need.

i didn most of the things you mentioned , and again its not bad exploring
but at certain points of the game , it just starts feeling like more of the same
so there is no hidden truth at the end of the line ?
no ultimate goal ?
thats too bad , i guess i'll cut back on the amount of time im spending on this game
i already named tons of planets and animals after everyone i know , all the pets i had
and every other name i can come up with

thanks :)

To some, stamps are valuable items that are appreciated by certain group of people

To many, stamps are just a prove of purchase so the can send lettes and stuffs

To some, NMS is a very unique and enjoyable experience

To many, NMS is boring and pointless

The point is, nobody force anybody to collect stamps so should nobody force you to play NMS either

If you find the game pointless and unfun, stop and move on

Point?

There is no point to anything.

Life? no point.

Death? no point.

Super Mario Bros : no point.

Welcome to Nihilism.

I'm having a great time learning the backstory through the monoliths. :)

The point is to make your own story.

Its an open world procedurally generated exploration game. Thats it. Thats the "point".
It caters to a very niche crowd of gamers who enjoy's that sort of thing.
Which can understandably seem pointless or confusing to most gamers.

I personally dont find sports games (or sports in general) particularly enjoyable or entertaining.
But i understand that some people like it.

That's whats so awesome about games. There is something for everyone.
But there is always going to be something you dont like that others love.

no need to get all offended . i had a good time with the game, except now it's tiresom
i dont want to spoil it for anyone so i had lots of fun until i reached the galactic center the first time and even the second time , then it just became pointless as its like restarting the game , i have a 48 slot spaceship , all the slots in the suit and my multi tool is really awesome i explored ,re-named planets ,systems ,animals and plants and it was fun , but there is no sense of closore no "i did it" feeling so i had to ask what was the point
now i know there isn't any
thanks :D
