Apollo doesn't seem to die either way, and the "meet each other on the planet" plot point near the end still happens regardless of your decision.

artemis went through a portal by herself before you met. she died before you met.
apollo went through a portal "with your help". he survived thanks to your help.
-null is the one who floated the idea to the player that apollo died. its not true.
the atlas says the guidance you provided allowed apollo to survive his journey.
