Report a translation problem
I know the plot already. I am asking why the developers chose this number for the plot.
Well, by that you mean a power of 2. 16 is to 2^4. However, it is also 4^2, which without the ^ is 42... probably just a coincidence but fun to think about lol.
Even beyond the story there is no shortage of 16's to be found in NMS
Everything in the NMS universe is generated from a random 'seed' value, which is a 16 digit, hexidecimal (16 symbols) number. Which is why there is 18 quintillion possible planets - 16 to the power of 16, likewise there is 16^16 permutations of just about any randomly generated object in the game, be it spaceships, multitools, freighters, creatures etc.
It's also why the portal network uses 16 symbols since they too are representing hexidecimal values.
Also there is a 16 System at the centre of the Galaxy, Mapping around outside of Core, I found your Communications Ball credhc !!
