Golden Ball At Ruins Wierdness

I've seen some videos of people finding a Golden Ball when at a ruin. Thhere were some mutterings that it could be used to open a portal but that was disproved in another. I decided to see for myself if I could find out what they are for.


I managed to find a ruin on a Korvax planet and it had a golden ball at the base of the ruin. So I pushed it all the way up the stairs and then rolled it onto what looked like a platform. Nothing happened, so I figured that maybe I should try doing the same at other ruin location.

I found another ruin and went looking for the golden ball. To my surprise it was at the top of the stairs in the same location that I left the golden ball at the previous ruin. I'm currently in search of a third ruin to see if it was just coincidence or something more.

Have any of you fine folks come across this too ?
