I'm just missing one type of new Planet, those with Floating Rocks with lightbeam.
Look for Red Stars - they're most common there.

The effect is especially cool at night:

On that same planet, I saw five ships flying endlessly in a tight circle over an otherwise unremarkable patch of landscape:

Ever visit a bubble planet at night? That's pretty neat. The first time I did it, I thought I had discovered something new - a planet with shiny minuature galaxies floating about. Then the sun began to rise, and I could see the bubbles - the "galaxies" were just the little reflections off of them - but it still looked like little galaxies were inside.
Of course, my eyes are also terrible, so ymmv.
I do still like to land on these at night, though, becauase I do enjoy seeing the "little galaxies" float about.
On each of them, I very quickly located one of those strange "Boundary Failure" objects:

I set up my new base on the third of those planets.
