No Mans Sky Alternatives?

With all the controversy surrounding NMS at the moment i am going to hold back my purchase a few weeks to see how the dev's respond to the many controversal issues surrounding the game.

In the meantime I wondered if anyone could make any recomendations for space exploration games. I don't need 18 Quintillion planets which appears to be the only unique thing NMS offers. I just liek the idea of flying to planets harvesting/crafting. Building or buying ships and moving around space doing different things.

I am currently playing Empyrion Glactic Survival, whish is still in Early Access but has a ton of fun things to do. I've tried space engineers but was a little too techy for my likings, i want to play and have fun, not spend hours welding stuff together i already placed.

Any other games spring to mind post them below

OP - question.

When you say for space exploration, do you want more fun gameplay or realism, because that could affect recommendations a lot.

On one extreme you have Space Engine (which isn't so much of as a game as a simulation) and on the other extreme you have the Spore space stage.

Awesome comment, actually loled hard at this in a good way :) Problem i have isn't the multiplayer liek most, it's the variation in planets and the grind of havign to refuel every 10 minutes to do more flying. The game loop cycle doesn't look that interesting past the first 5-10 hours and for a full priced game i want at least 40+ hours out of it.

Elite is a complete different game, as Star Citizen, like compare GTA with Forza because both of them make you drive cars. Dual Universe is a mmo, like compare Elder Scrolls with WoW.

The games i play are not like no mans sky???

In my library already which are either survival, space or exploration games.

7 out of the 18 games i own so nearly half are in this genre and you think they are not my type of game? Troll somewhere else please and thank you.

Yeah there are far too many trolls on No Man's Sky. People need to get a reality check sometimes. No Man's Sky is no doubt a great game and it will be enjoyed by millions (myself included). People need to stop reading into the conspiracy and lying and other BS people are posting and just judge the game on their own experience. It's definitely worth the purchase even for the sheer curiosity to see what your experience will be like.

I'd wish they would completely purge the NMS forums. They were literally floaded with cancer and trolls in the past days/weeks.
