I've played a little with the auto-lock, and it's actually quite useful. I definitely don't like it mapped to the E (for toggle) and S (for hold) keys on the keyboard. "E" is already used for other things, like landing, and "S" is used to brake/reverse the starship. I may need to do both of those things while in combat with a starship, now that they can attack from the atmosphere. I will be re-mapping these keys.
Also, something else that's notable is that, once you've defeated your opponent, auto-lock is disabled.
Nope it's built in. On keyboard, it's the "brake/reverse" bind by default. Make note, you have to be in combat and you have to have a valid target for it to work. Does the console version not have a screen to check controls?
"Brake/reverse" doesn't exist in any of the key bindings. People be like "the forward key" instead of just saying "hit W," then want you to transcribe it.
