Find Us Hear Us Problem - Beacon/cache underground?

I am having trouble with the "Find Us Hear Us" section of Awakenings. I went to the planet, followed the coordinates and landed near the signal. I then scanned the area to see where the signal was coming from and headed there. The signal kept moving and I soon realized it was coming from inside the base of a volcano. I looked around for a cave entrance or something like that with no luck.

I have been looking for answers various places with no luck. There were a few Reddit posts that seemed to imply if the beacon signal is coming from underground it is a bug and you need to start the game over. I wouldn't mind doing it, I'm enjoying the game a lot - but I'm wondering if there is another answer here I am missing.

I had the same problem (and died trying to get inside the volcano). After logging off and on, I followed the beacon AROUND the volcano and found the spot ca. 1000 units farther but in safer grounds. Looked like a bug indeed !

Thank you for your reply - glad to know I am not alone in experiencing this one. I will try searching a wider area.

You can always teleport to a player base that is far away from the current system.
Reset the mission from there, teleport, warp to a new system and reset the mission again.
You should get a new POI for the goal.
