Map of current system
If you are on a planet, is it possible to see the system you are in and the other planets you have discovered in it? Or do you have to take off into space to see all that?

The resource I need isn't on the current planet. I'm standing in front of a teleporter. I want to go to a system that has a planet that has the resource I need. But there doesn't appear to be a way to do that from a planet. You need to go to space (via ship or station) to see the other planet's resources.
Or use your discovery listing wisely. It will list any system/planets you have visited and show the major resources. If you are just starting out, this is an exploring game at heart so they like to leave a reason to get out there and find stuff. Build a base if you know you will want to come back for that resource- just a base computer properly named will work.

The discovery listing will show you the summary information on planets in the system and you can drill down to the details on the planets you have discovered in the system, but not really a map.

The "star systems" are not real star systems with the sun, the orbits, etc and planets are minutes away, so there is no good reason to have a map. So what Mr. Bufferlow said is the best, and probably the only AFAIK, way to have an overview of the system.

Well, my question was actually more about what you can see when you're on a planet. When I'm in space/anomaly, I can see the whole system and the planets in it. When I'm on a planet, I don't see how you look at other planets in the system.

I'm not sure I understand. That's what the Discoveries tab is for: you can see other planets in the system you're in, or other systems even, such as their names, types, resources, weather, flora and fauna and a picture of the planet.

I think OP is indirectly asking for the galactic map feature to available when you are on foot. This has been requested a number of times by users in New Features.

As a practical matter, the G map is actually a tool for traveling to other systems, not a true "map" for just casual viewing. It would take a lot of programming to make it play both roles so the Devs have never implemented the additional aspect of just a curiosity for you to look at while hanging around on the surface. (It only takes a moment to go to space in any event)

I think that was a wise decision and best use of scarce programming resources. OP, you can send them a request for the enhanced feature via Zen Desk, but don't hold your breath waiting for it.
