Is there a ratio from the base computer that specify the player's base zone? And if there is, is there a restriction to build near another player's base? Basically I want to know how different it is from a minecraft realm, in which it doesn't matter if the host is connected and any player can build and play on the same zone.
So your best bet it so pick a planet everyone likes make your own bases. Planets are massive, so there's plenty of space for everyone. Alternatively everyone claim their own planet. You get portals as an early tech which you can use to freely travel between each others bases. Also you can all have a place you work on together, unfortunately the owner of the base needs to be online for everyone to use it. Not the worst, great for people who don't want the one homie with all the time to log in and do it all while everyone else is at work lol. Would like to see them expand on the multiplayer options a bit personally.
You might want to search the discussion forum. I think I remember seeing some actual offsets that players figured out so they could essentially have contiguous bases near each other.
The main point is that even if you figure a way to get the base structures in the same area, you are still unable to build on someone else's base if they are not present. My guess is they set it up that way so players could not play practical (or unpractical) jokes on other players when they were not around to say knock it off or I change your network privileges.
