Friends sharing a world
we all just started playing the game. Started building a base and then the leader had to log out. now we can really do anything. We wanted to work together on building a big base we share. Is there a way to set base permissions so friends can access them or something? Or i haven't tried but build multiple base computers in the same place?

or is there any advice on how we might be able to base build together? I Dont mind going sligihtly solo but the other two are stuck at the hip.

You can only work on another player's base if they are present. Best to just each have your own base nearby the other. That way you can build together but can still work on your own base if the other player(s) are not around.

Is there a ratio from the base computer that specify the player's base zone? And if there is, is there a restriction to build near another player's base? Basically I want to know how different it is from a minecraft realm, in which it doesn't matter if the host is connected and any player can build and play on the same zone.

generally a planet will only show 1 base. So if you have a base there, you'll only see your base. However if your friends also have bases on that planet when they log in itll tell you a player has entered the system. Once you join each others group you'll be able to see each others base. In the system options you can control who can utilize you structures, build, refine etc in your base.

So your best bet it so pick a planet everyone likes make your own bases. Planets are massive, so there's plenty of space for everyone. Alternatively everyone claim their own planet. You get portals as an early tech which you can use to freely travel between each others bases. Also you can all have a place you work on together, unfortunately the owner of the base needs to be online for everyone to use it. Not the worst, great for people who don't want the one homie with all the time to log in and do it all while everyone else is at work lol. Would like to see them expand on the multiplayer options a bit personally.

AFAIK, each player has their own base and base perimeter. (So the zone thing does not really come into play except you can't set a base computer if there is already another player's base perimeter that would conflict with your base perimeter.)

You might want to search the discussion forum. I think I remember seeing some actual offsets that players figured out so they could essentially have contiguous bases near each other.

The main point is that even if you figure a way to get the base structures in the same area, you are still unable to build on someone else's base if they are not present. My guess is they set it up that way so players could not play practical (or unpractical) jokes on other players when they were not around to say knock it off or I change your network privileges.
