Finding my initial system's other planets
OK, I've mucked about enough on my crash planet and ventured up into space for the first time. I accessed the galactic map and saw that there are three planets in my system, but the interface only seems to let me target other systems.

I want to check out the other two planets in my system before I warp somewhere else, but I can't figure out how to see them or get to them. Where are they? Nothing shows up when I fly around in orbit except for a space station that's a few hours off. No other planets visible in the sky, either as destinations or just as visible objects.

I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, but any tips appreciated.

That's weird, I would think you should be able to see them when you're flying above your first planet (I can in the various systems I've been in). Could it be that your starter planet is on the edge of the system and the others are actually on the other side of it? (so you can't see them because your starter planet is in the way?)

Scan around, and it should show up on the radar. If all else, press A+D to engage sublight, and wait 15 sec, then S to break, then look around again. I bet the other two planet is just behind your starter.

Usually if you go to the space station (one in every solar system), you should see most (all) planets.

Cool, thanks for the tips, I'll try that.

also, when you are in space, the 'lines' in the sky are planetary and large body orbit paths.

Look at your space station and follow the thin white lines in space. They are the route the AI trade ships take from all planets and moons to the space station and therefore will lead you to all planets in the system. Follow the white line to the planet and you'll find a trading post. I tend to do it that way and then explore within a radius around the trading post for quick sale of items.

Ah, I was wondering what those lines were! Thanks.

Update: yup, just needed to fly around the planet more (with boost, which I didn't initially notice), and my other two planets came into view. Glad I decided to stick around - my second one has towers of nickel and gold all over the place, decent conditions, and "relaxed" sentinels who don't bug me at all as I pulverize the rocks. Got 1.4 million units after an hour or so of mining, looking forward to maybe buying a nice big ship before moving on to planet #3 :)

Don't buy a ship find and repair crashed ships it's far more cost effective

I agree. I got a 26 slot ship for pretty much free on my first system by repairing ships and getting 1 more slot each time. It seems 26 slot is the cap at the start. I had to warp a couple of times before I started getting ships with more.

I'm flying a repaired crashed ship right now, but at just 17 slots; I passed up a crashed 18-slot because it had so many things broken and my inventory was tight. I thought I could make a bigger jump buying one, but I'll keep exploring and see what comes up.

You will only ever find a crashed ship with 1 more or 1 less slot. When you find a crashed ship only repair the lunch thrusters and pulse drive. Disassemble everything else. Do that until you find a 26 slot ship you like (this whole process should take less than an hour) at which point you can also fix the shields and choose which upgrades to use.

Ah! Cool :) Will give it a go.
