Any way to mark a location to return later?
A bunch of times I've found suit upgrade pods but was too short on cash to buy the upgrade. Anyway to mark a spot for later? I've got a few buildings marked on the next planet over, but have no idea why.

Not at all. It is a pretty big oversight in an exploring game with an near infinite number of systems and planets.

I wouldn't worry about that one suit upgrade. You'll find them on every planet and you're guaranteed one at the space station once you get an atlasspassv1.

Those spots are EVERYWHERE. Don't worry about marking locations...

I know there's lots of them, but it's annoying when you find 3 upgrade pods in close proximity and have to just leave them.

Saving planetary coordinates are a must, IMO, along with a way to toggle/untoggle the waypoints. There are locations on planets I want to save just because they look good, or because there's a large number of mineral deposits in the vicinity.

Scan the building or the pod with your visor according to what I've read online. It'll make a custom marker. To get rid of it scan it again. It'll show up as a small white circle in your HUD.

These custom markers disappear when you get too far away from them. Even with the NEXT update there’s still no way to mark your discoveries and a written map is impossible. IMO this is one of the biggest bugs in the game, a game that’s all about discovering cool stuff and organising resources to progress that effectively erases your locations as you move around is just as dumb as seeing the same guy parked on either side of you in a hangar :)

you can make a temporary custom waypoint. scan a plant or rock and hold down E to make a custom waypoint. i don't know if changed recently but it shows up from far away. like off planet far away.

You should just be able to make a custom marker on any piece of ground. You can also see coordinates in the analysis visor.

Just build a base computer and claim the site

Ah they have these things called beacons also. Can't you use a beacon?

Yup. Totally my biggest issue since (recently) starting to play.

Pretty much what he said, if you're new however you Press "Z" to go into build mode and look for it same place as base computer and portable refiner locations, you will ofcause need components to build one but you should be able to see what it needs.

Beacons and Base Computers- both good ideas! I’ll try them out. Wouldn’t claiming a base overwrite your existing base (newb here)? As for a white dot showing up for locations you’ve tagged- this no longer works in NEXT, at least they vanish when you leave the planet. Anyone confirm this?

Concerning multiple bases: As of NEXT, you can have multiple bases without any issues (but each planet can only have one uploaded base which other players could find and visit on that planet in their own games).

Also as of NEXT, Drop Pods no longer require Units to use --- once you repair them, you get an Exosuit upgrade of your choice for free.
