How do I find previously visited systems?
Yes, I get it's a console port and the controls are all to hell. But the screen where you select a star system to warp to is INSANE. I've only traveled to another system once, planning on going back to my starter system again once I was done. I want to go back! But the galaxy map is INFURIATING! I've read of ways to scan the galaxy map and see where you've come from on console but... so far I haven't been able to figure out how to do that on PC! Does anyone know? The controls for the galaxy map aren't even properly listed anywhere.

Edit: "Solutions": Pressing X toggles through discovered systems nearby. If you're close by to the system you're looking for you should be able to find it! Pressing F on a system will put a waypoint on it. Take note that this CANNOT be manually removed and you cannot put a waypoint on a system you're in. The waypoint disappears once you travel to it.

I have a bad suspicion that the only way to find it would be if you uploaded the info before you left. There's a tab button that says "scan for discoveries" which I'm guessing is a way to bring up places that have been catalogued.

The ability to plot in a course from the discovery tab would be nice.

Yeah there's no way of knowing, which is sad as it takes the emphasis out of the 'free roam' aspect.

A tab for visited systems would be good in the star map menu

I've tried pressing Tab for "Scan for discoveries" but that seems to do literally nothing!

if you leave a system you cant get back to it.

I made the same mistake.. It took me around an hour to find my starter galaxy.. all you can really do is use free roam and stay in the area you think it could possibly be around. Good luck.

I want to know this as well! The Tab to Scan for Discoveries actually does nothing at all. I've uploaded all of my discoverings (including planets etc) to the Atlas, but I've seen nowhere I could use this information to get back there.

This is very very close to being a game-breaking issue for me - there are places I want to go back to, and I don't want to continue before I get so far out that I'll never ever be able to find the early systems by chance, so I don't really want to keep playing right now.

I saw something for PS4 users about pressing D and you could do it that way, but obviously I'm not on a PS4.

ARGH!

I went old school. Pen and paper journal (for system names if I didn't rename them) with grid paper. Been to 10 systems and know my way back. Highly recommended.

And knowing is half the battle.:steamhappy:

I know both the original name and the revised name of my starter system. Looked at the map around the 2nd star I visited for half an hour and didn't see either name.

Navigation definitely needs work.

I think I figured it out.

Pressing X seems to go into a "discovered systems" search mode. Pressing it repeatedly it started selecting nearby stars that had been uploaded by players. After ten or so I found my home system.

OMG! *logs back in to try it out*

This actually works.

If you're wondering why pressing Tab does nothing, it's because the keybinding prompt is incorrect. It should actually be "X" to scan for discoveries.

It takes time to scan everything in the area so keep pressing X to cycle through the nearby discovered systems until you find yours.

Another tip is to add a Waypoint to your previously visited systems so that you have a breadcrumb trail all the way back to the beginning, if you need it.

Pressing X a few times worked for me! I could cycle through the discovered systems close by!
