Do you need Atlas stones?
I know I need them to get to the center, but do I need 10x of them to ever find the center, or do I need 10x of them once I get there? I've seen several NPC's selling Atlas stones so I just sell them myself thinking I can buy them later if I ever wanna get to the center, I'm just afraight the game is made so I cant reach the center before I have 10x of them and that me flying from station to station is pointless.

Well, have you gone through the Atlas missions? I don't want to spoil what you might need those stones for if you don't know.
I purchased 2 from an NPC but after seeing the crap reward for reaching the center, I'm not going to bother.

you do NOT need them to get to the center. the atlas path requires 10 atlas stones. follow the atlas path is only flavor text. it has no bearing on the rest of the game and can be completed in under 1 hour.

Okay I have 10, what the heck do I use them for?

Oh okay. Becuase I'm following the atlas pass for no reason really, just bored, but I also sell the stones.

In the game you can follow this Atlas path which leads you from Atlast station to Atlas station where you get one Atlas stone at each station, at some point you'll get to a station offering you the oppertunity to birth a star which requires 10x Atlas stones, if you then have 10x of them (I don't I sold that trash) you'll be able to birth a star and you'll basically start the game all over again just in a new galaxy. So in short term you'll start a new game except you'll keep your multitool, exosuit and ship.

some guy on reddit monitored his network activity at the end of atlas and turns out the "star creation" is just a blurb of text and no info is exchanged w/ the server when it happens..

No, you do not restart the game on completion of the Atlas quest. You just continue doing... whatever.

Well I can't really tell as I have yet to do it myself, but from what I've seen and read you'll end up in a completly new galaxy. I didn't say you restart either, as I said you get to keep everything.

You could just use a spoiler tag.

What you've seen and read is incorrect.

Atlas path does NOT send you to a new galaxy. Attempting to warp to the center does. Top Tip: You can't warp to the center of any galaxy. This is why it always shows as "Undiscovered'.
