Are we unable to invest our own funds in settlements?
I make a lot of money from stasis device manufacturing, and thought a settlement would be a good way to throw some money around and grow my income, but it appears I am unable to invest in the settlement directly. It's a little frustrating seeing the debt climb when I could easily put my settlement in the green with a 10mil investment. Do I need to construct something specific in order to do this or is it really not an option at this time?

Settlements have very little input from you, they just aren't worth your time. There is no investing your own money, just dropping off some cheap components when called upon. You can only have one settlement and once you get them built up, they crap out about 50k worth of trade products per day at best. When I was building up mine the construction for even small buildings need to be done in 4 stages that needed constant babysitting to not bug out and reset their progress. If you can farm stasis devices then it sounds like you're already at peak performance.

I dumped my able assistants there, they can all moan and ♥♥♥♥♥ amongst themselves about what a lazy SOB I am now somewhere out of sight where they aren't annoying me.

You need a settlement to be able to do the new sentinels quest but otherwise they really are just an annoyance for me at least. And having a settlement also means you don't get annoying messages each time you do a galaxy transit.

I won't call them bad, I just don't find them particularly enjoyable.
