How to get alien weapon organically
Is there a way to find an alien s-class multi-tool without cheating and using a portal location someone posts on a forum? If I am patient and just play the game will I eventually find one?

Yes. That is how the portal locations were found. Every system you visit check a few minor settlements. They are very rare, but they are out there.

Ah thanks!

They are pretty rare. I have seen about a handful (by chance) in 2000+ hours. The lesser aliens (low slots, pistols) seem to show up for me. Never seen an Alien 24 slot rifle except by using a portal to go where one is known to be.

It took me about 2k hours to find my first - so check as many minor settlements and space stations as you make your way through the universe - I recently found an Alien 24 slot A class in Euclid at a space station

I found one after 20 hours so I guess I'm very lucky. I also have a system with every atmosphere type and a bioluminescent paradise world with it so...

Thought I'd chime in here. But I have a theory that all types of weapons should be easy to find provided you're not looking for very specific traits. Did you find this weapon because you were frantically searching for it? Or did you stumble into it just on an off chance you happened to arrive somewhere? Stations of all places give the lowest chances because they're by design easy to seek out and visit.

@ Drafnova
Your theory certainly matches my experience (over 7k. hrs since launch) - I follow a similar method when looking for freighters and/or ships that I want - I check all stations I stop at, and will usually check out planets for places too, as I do other stuff - scanning and some harvesting as desired, exploration has rare rewards.

Of my current saves, 1 is my original save, and on the other, I found on my start planet, first a B24, then an A24 and finally an S24 Experimental MT in the first 3 settlements I visited, before I had any units and very basic tech. Unfortunately not including the marker beacon.

Finally found the location by leaving a comm. ball there (which was not visible to me) and yelling for help on this forum, and was helped when someone visited the planet, could see my comm. ball and left one I could see at the site. Out of the 6 S class MT's I have in these two saves, that is the only "search" I have done for a MT - even when I have all I want, I still like looking to see what's locally available.

So, I don't "stumble" into finding stuff, rather just keep a "weather eye" out for what providence WILL bring. :steamhappy:

I found an A24 alien rifle after 170 hours of a normal game. I found it at a minor settlement during one of my planetary data runs. I have resigned myself to the nanite upgrade route for weapons and ships. I melted a fugly S class explorer full of nice black market modules when I found a beautiful A class. I'll get on the nanite grind for it just as soon as I've upgraded the A24 rifle. Well - Occasional grind. When any activity gets too grindy for me I'll do something else for a while. I'd have maybe found a S24 alien rifle and much sooner than the A24 if I'd been grinding minor settlements nonstop.
