What I enjoy most is playing legacy games on version 1.09, the last bug-fix version before Foundation. As one who started my first game in August 2016 just a few days after the game was released on PC, I've often felt nostalgic for the feeling of that first exciting experience and the simple and straight-forward game play of the first incarnation of the game. So I'll start one up on 1.09, restarting each time I get a hazardous planet, until I get a nice plushy and pleasant planet to walk about on without concern for hazards. Then I enjoy a leisurely experience exploring the planet on foot and eventually working my way up to fully maxed-out equipment, trying to stay in my startup system for the whole thing. When I've buffed out my gear to the max - 48 exosuit slots, 24-slot multitool, and a sexy starfighter with its 48 slots, I usually just call it quits with all initial goals accomplished. This usually takes around 60 or 70 hours. Except for just one time, when I was having so much fun that I went on through the rest of the game, all the way through the Atlas quest to birthing a new star.
Just a few days ago I discovered that someone has posted the game files for Foundation, Pathfinder, Atlas Rises, and Visions. This link: https://kavogaming.com/download-no-mans-sky-old-versions-foundation-pathfinder-atlas-rises-visions/
I'm thinking that when I'm done with this expedition and the NMS updates settle down a bit I'll have a shot at a Pathfinder game.
Glad to see that there's someone else besides me that likes the old days.
I pre-ordered the game in March myself. Maybe I'll try starting a new playthrough on 1.09 someday. :)
I plan to make a Steam Guide on how to specifically download previous versions of No Man's Sky using a software called "DepotDownloader"[github.com]. It's relatively easy to use, even though there's no user interface and it requires ". net 5.0" or something. I'll need to double-check the pre-requisites because I want my guide to be "idiot-proof". 😅 (My "old" English as a second language teacher taugh us that expression. 🙂 Hopefully that's not insulting.)
My 1.13 playthrough is actually my main one. 😐 I played for 400 hours, maybe, but I don't really know what I did because my main one is 102 hours as I previously said. 😆
