Electrical cables - distance
How far can you pull an electrical cable? I am setting up an indium farm and I need to power it from an EM generator.

I create 'pylons' between my Electromagnetic Generators and Mineral Farm.
Use the Build Mode (C on the PC) when your standing at your EG Farm and move as far as you can towards your mineral farm (W on the PC)
Then build your Pylon (I use Half Arch left of Wall, one pointing left, rotate the other pointing right, usually 6 units high)
Go into 'cable' mode under Power Technology and connect to top-most pylon points to and EG.
Physically move to the base of the pylon you have created and repeat until you are at any easy distance to connect from your pylon to your Mineral Extractors.
(I have set myself a goal of creating every Gas and Mineral Farm possible, 25 in all... I am on my last one)
If anyone is interested, I can describe my standard-repeatable process for creating Farms

If I use your "pylons" I can have my EM field 700 units from my my mineral field?

Typically you would need to...
a) Find your EG source using Survey Tool (I mark it with a Save Beacon set to green colour)
b) Find your Gas/Mineral source using Survey Tool ((I mark it with a Save Beacon set to red colour)
c) Using your Survey Tool, find the distance from one to another ... it will show you if you move the centre of scanner to the orange symbol
d) Create a base at the mid-point between EG and Gas/Mineral source
If you are lucky, both will be within 310 (ish) units away from the Base and you can construct everything with no problem.
If greater than 310 (you can check exactly by being in build select mode (Z on PC) and walking outside this limit and notice when it flips to outside base mode) you will need to force it to extend the boundary by placing an object (usually a wooden wall, just before the flip point. Repeat this for every flip point until you have one PAST your source.Make sure it is in a straight line. This way you can increase the radius from 310 to around 1000.
I would use this technique for your 700 distance if you have built your base at your Mineral source.
Hope this helps :)

Indeed it does

Sometimes, for unknown reasons, it flips back to 'outside of base mode' whilst you are in the middle of constructing your EG or Mineral Farm. If this happens, you will need to create a save point, quit NMS then restart the NMS app. Your ability to continue building inside the EG or Mineral Farm will be restored. This does not happen very often :)

May I ask how you set the colours?
Creative Guy1 19 JUL 2020 a las 10:50 a. m.
Sure. It says on the black options bit below the object select. If on PC it is the Up arrow.
To get rid of it press Down arrow or right click on the mouse :)

All electrical wire, teleport cable, and supply pipe has a maximum segment length of 200u exactly. Electrical wire and supply pipe can be snapped together to make longer lengths up to about 1000u which is the maximum limit of the base. In reality only electrical wire easily snaps together, supply pipe has no snap to it, you just have to position the ends closely...it looks terrible, but it works. If you are within 300u of the base computer, there is no building restriction, but if you extend wire out of the 300u range, you must place a base object (like a pylon) every 50 u or so to "open" a circular space around the pylon in which you can build and call up the construction menu.
