I have mine on a bountiful planet right now. This planet has lots of trees and plants for carbon, caves for iron and marrow bulbs, and not a lot of water. The fauna is sparse, and most of the animals that it does have are old and scared to death of me. The sentinels are relaxed and take forever to respond (if they do at all) when I'm on a deforestation kick or when I get the desire to mine some plutonium. About every half hour to 45 minutes, it'll storm for about four or five minutes. That does suck, but with that kind of frequency, I can certainly live with that.

The system itself has six planets and the conflict level is gentle. I wish that all the large asteroids didn't primarily yield copper; but, that being only the second of the two drawbacks to basing myself in this system, I basically found heaven. I'm pretty happy with my little backwater haven.

Toxic so you can grow lots of fungal mould without planters and make lots of explosives to sell for cash.

Mine is placed on a planet with rolling planes and no animals. Sentinals are relaxed as well, but that's a bonus.

For me, its the system you are in before choosing a planet.

1. How many planets are there?
2. Do they have the resources that I need for farming?
3. Is there a good variation of planets? i.e warm, hot, cold, toxic.
4. Will I get a good price for my products at the local space station?

There are some other variables that I use, but these are the main ones.
