Way to tell which system I got a ship from?
Hey guys,

I bought an S-Class explorer on a SS some time ago.

Now I want to recommend that ship to a friend, but I have no idea which system I got it from.

Is there a way to tell?

Thank you!

Ships in a system are random until you enter it, after that you may again meet the same ships when they return to SS or elsewhere. This means that if your friend happens to go for the first time in the same system without your aid, then DIFFERENT ships will spawn, that's not helpful for him.
The only thing you can do is meet your friend in the Space Anomaly and you both return in that system. I would then go to a trading post on a planet where the most ships will land, then wait for that ship to land there, it may take some time.
Note that this will work only with NORMAL ships (including S-Class ones), but not exotic ships. Exotic ships have a separate spawning probability which is very low, you are not going to see the same exotic ship again, it's already good luck to meet it once.

There may be a better solution, but I don't know about it. Hope that helps.

Clarification

A system will have a certain starship types (arc type, geomtery, color) in it. This is generated by the system seed and us independent of players.

Ship class and slots are random.

There is nothing in the UI that will tell you what starship types exist in a system. Some player will make a note in the system name if there is a good ship type in system. In general when you see something you want to remember or find again take a screenshot with the portal coordinates.

Then - what I don't know because I don't play MP: Maybe it's now simply possible to transfer ships from player to player, maybe selling or giving the ship to him. Buy the ship, rendez-vous with your friend somehwere and let your friend take your ship. Maybe this is possible now? If it works then both of you must have the exact same MP settings allowing to see each other and have everything 'unlocked', I don't recommend these 'liberal' MP settings for normal play, but in your case this has to be done.

You can not trade ships.

Hi, is there a way to tell which system I got the ship from? I didn't save the glyphs and I don't remember which one it was.

Thank you.

You should have taken a screenshot of the ship, the glyph adress would be included. Without that, if you can't remember, then no, no way to tell. But to say it again: If your friend would go there, he would likely not find the exact same ship, this has to be done 'live' immediately via MP.

The only way I know to transfer a ship to another player is using the save editor. You buy the ship, go in the editor and note the seed number which you send to your friend who can then use the editor to change one of his ships to that seed. He will then have the exact same ship.
I think Reddit has a thread which contains a list of seed nr. for ships, and maybe in the forum here too if you use the Search.
