"Rare deep space object detected " exit pulse to examine

I keep getting these notifications when travelling from station to planet or such in Pulse engine mode. Even though I try to ignore them they frequently still show up when I exit pulse. Most interaction I've had with any is a deep space message that I can open. that is just the usual "kzzzt" infested esoteric babble that at the end the only option is "End Communication". Most recently it was a "Atlas Messenger" which I tried to interact with for longer ( as I am getting ready to go to the last atlas Interface which I have found and am just picking away at crafting my last three seeds ) but still no luck. Anyone know how we are supposed to interact/explore these things?

Right now those particular encounters do not seem to do anything more then that. Hopefully HG will do something more with then soon.

I think I have seen mentions that you can get living ship upgrades from some of those encounters?

Some of the encounters you can shoot and loot. Other just give cryptic messages, other just seem to be eye candy.

Hopefully the cryptic message encounters become useful in some future update. The current system seems half finished.

Mentioned above, but some of those are part of the Starbirth mission to get a living ship. Pretty obvious if they are, you'll see right away.
