Merchants are scared of me (Distress Beacon Quest)

when i was was doing the awakenings quest where you have to talk to NPCs until you find the source of the distress beacon, i talked to some of the merchants at my local space station. Now, whenever i try to interract with them, they "look at you in fear. It is clear that they have nothing to say to you". Is there a way to fix this? theres only one space station in the system and i want to be able to buy technology again. Any help is greatly appreciated
EDIT: i ended up just reloading an old save so i guess it sorted itself out

Also experiencing this problem. It's just the merchants at the first station where I did the quest. Other merchants talk to me fine. I'm way past that mission but it's like their dialog didn't progress, a bug maybe?

Not sure. Sometimes when someone is afraid of you (in RL) they stay afraid, no matter what you do, or don't do. Makes sense that the same might happen in the game.

Same issue. no merchants will talk to me. Im 7/9 with the faction. No idea what to do.

So what race are you... A firned and I were playing MP and he played as VyKeen... The Geks wouldn't talk to him... BECAUSE He was VyKeen...

ive always has succese with the alien closet to the blue special mission area which is beside the trade hub. If that doesnt work then its possible its random.

Same problem for myself as well. Other station merchants from same faction can talk without problem.

After several forced (Permadeath) restarts, my experience has always been the same: once the merchants in the station in my starting system are afraid of me, they are afraid of me forevermore.

That's fine with me. There are only several quntillion other stations out there.
