So, aliens just gift whole capital ships to random strangers?
This just happend to me. I'm quite new to the game. Just made my third hyperjump into a new system.
Found a giantic ship under attack from 5 tiny fighters. Message pops up on my screen, that should help out. I do so. Shoot enemy fighter, take some damage in return, whatever.
Afterwards the captain of the freighter wants to talk to me. I think, well sure maybe i get some credits or a new tech.
So, i walk up to him, can't understand 1 word he spouts, which is "Gek" and now i own a friggin freighter and a frigatte to boot. Is that a normal occurence in no mans sky, or is that just a storything?

Yeah, you get your first freighter for free. From now on you have to pay for them if you wanna upgrade. A lot. Some cost over 100 mil.

I think they did it to catch new people up to old players combined with pushing the new frigate system. But those are a guess.
Its normal. I got an A class 34 slot for my freebie. I probably won't bother to up it to S class.

This has always been a thing since they introduced the freighters a while back. On your 3rd or 4th jump on a new game you get to 'save' a freighter and they give it to you. It's just an event that has a reward.

Still, feels like it throws the pacing of.
Ok, you lernd how to mine and refine recources, built a few wood walls, made your first small steps into the galaxy.
Now here's your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ flying skyscrapper.

No they don't gift Capital Ships to random stranders... Your characyer is the main focus in this game. The freighter is part of the opening sequence where it along with other items are being supplied to prepare you for the journey. Like the antimatter and BP for it.

Dude, i know the player is the mainfocus. But for a games story to work, it has to be consitent and logic within it's own set of rule for the world, or in this instance, galaxy.
For the captain of the freighter, i was just some random dude of a species he has never seen before. But i shot down 5 tiny gnats, that probably wouldn't have been able to scratch the paintjob on his homungus cargohauler.
Obiously, the stress of watching this 3 minute "spacebattle" was enough to reconsider his entire lifedecision to become a ships captain and now he wants to get rid of it.
So of course the best action to take here is to give 2 big expensive ships away, to someone he has never seen before, instead of selling them and live the easy life.

It breaks immersion, and i think immersion is important in a game like this.

I take it back. I think the captain realized that managing his frigates is a waste of time and fills his hold with rubbish, and is actually tricking the player :)

storyline, it makes sense if you know the whole story. Nanda probably hacked him to make him give it to you.

Logic in Alien behaviour is not a element of NMS, sadly.

I agree, if you ask me, I would turn the cards and make a battle for a freighter.
Maybe some stealth missions on a freighter that has broken radar system, to hop in and try to steal a ship from them, capture the captain and later exchange him for a Traveler that you'll have to find later?

They could make that better. This way is a bit funny, yeah :)

Really? Ooo...nice :)
I was really impressed yesterday when I played, NMS has story and the story isn't bad at all (I knew there's a story but as I said, I didn't know it's that good)

Now I'm even more hyped to play today :)

Tnx man
