Alluring Specimen and Hadal cores
Im having a bit of trouble with harvesting Hadal Cores.
Basically, my luck dictates that every time i try to harvest the first Hadal Core from Alluring Specimen, the fat Anglerfish appears.
EVERY TIME.

Am i doing something wrong, or does the Universe hate me?

My guess is that there must be something about you that just p***es that fish off. ;-)

At the risk of stating the obvious, yes...it will happen every time.

Similar to harvesting the whispering eggs.

That hasn't been my experience. I've harvested quite a few of those alluring specimens, in probably about four or five play-throughs of the Dreams of the Deep quest line. In all of that time I've seen those fishy horrors only once. They swarmed me so hard and killed me so fast that I didn't even have time to bring up a weapon.

Since then I make a point of harvesting them whenever I see them, hoping that those killer fish will spawn again so that I can see if I can find a way to defeat them. But they haven't been making their presence felt. I should mention that I play in normal mode.

I was able once to pick up a core without the fish spawning immediately, but it spawned at the second one...I was not able to repeat that. And once the fish spawns all other cores are gone. I have even tried to build a L-shape tunnel going below the cores, but to no avail, I got only 1 core.
My next idea is: if the fish cannot see you directly, then it will not spawn, I will check that and try to place me accordingly before picking the cores.

Ppl tend to ignore the awesomeness of grenade launchers. The only problem is self inflicted lethal grenade shot wound to the face, but with training that stops happening.

Another idea is: use your manipulator to fill the terrain around the cores, this should block the fish if it spawns. I don't know if that works underwater though.

Training and rebinding the key...

With grenades you get trained to read a lot of wisdom messages at the end... One of them is badly quoted: It should be from Woody Allen instead of Stephen Hawking...

The fish seems to have a 50% chance of spawning each you pick.

Position your sub as closely to the alluringly speicies as possible. Position your self so you can see the alluringly speicies and your sub. Pick a core. If the fish spawns jump in yo your sub and kill the fish with your mining beam.
