Cant warp to same system, multiplayer
Hello :)
So a friend and I started to play together. He started a new game and I joined his session on a new save too.
So far so good, we got into the same system and same session so everything worked fine untill the point where we get the hyperdrive and shall go to a new system.
When we go into the galaxy map, it says "current location" for me is somewhere completely different and my friend is in another system X lightyears away.
We was expecting to be able to jump from the same place to the same places as we are in the same system, but the galaxy map says we are in different system than we have been playing in.

if we go out of the galaxy map without warping, we are back to the system we started in and can see eachother.

So it looks like we are in 1 system but the galaxy map thinks we are in a completely different one.

Anyone have any ideas why this is happening?

We tried to switch who is hosting, same save.
We then got thrown into another system, but this time we are in the same system, even when we check the galaxy map.
Strange.

You each start in a random location. If you join his game, you will be transferred to his location.

Unless you build a base at his location, you will be sent back to your original location when you leave his game.

Not sure how that works with the map while together but would try making a base.

Good luck and best travels!

That would make sense if we did not have a base. We had a base each on the same planet, but there was a lot of other bases on the planet too, something may have bugged out somewhere,

Are you both in the same galaxy? Are you both playing on the same platform (for example PC)? Same game mode (for example survival)?

If everthing above matches up, you should be fine. If some aspects don't match up...there is your problem.

I have had folks join me in Eissentam galaxy that came from Euclid. You can't stay in another galaxy. You can build a base there....but once you return to your home galaxy you will not be able to get to your new galaxy base...other than by joining your friend's game. Never played with the galaxy map when I joined a game...because I did not want to get stuck. I like my current galaxy.

Having said all that, I know very little about MP other than a few experiences and reading posts from others.

I would recommend doing some experiments. Travel in his freighter to a new system. Can you build a base? Can you create a teleport to get back to your first base- where you can see each other. That sort of thing.

1) Understand SP and MP location are DIFFERENT.
This means, your SP game location is different to your MP location which is only "a temporary visit" of your friends SP location.
AND: it will be reset already when you exit your (friends) game! That is, your next game session loading, you will load your SP location again - or join your friend again!

2) Make your MP location your SP location too (atleast add it to your teleportation network)
For this, you both should at least advance such far in the missions to both can build a base computer, a teleporter and have fixed your ships warp and normal engine.

Now, when you are in your friends system, fly to the space station and activate the teleporter there (mostly it is already just by landing there, but I recommend to visit the teleporter there and activate/select it but without teleporting somewhere)

Not sure how long it takes to get to the teleporter blueprint, but if you don't have it, this should be your primary task!
