What happens to your ships inventory when changing primary ship?

I enjoy doing big mining expeditions on planets and coming back to my freighter to sell it all but what I was wondering is what happens to the inventory of a ship when changing primary ship. Does it disappear or does it stay in it untill I change back to my original primary ship. Does it stay even after warping with my freighter??

Does anybody know this?

Any starship you own will keep whatever is in their inventory even when you switch active starships. I have 3 extra haulers I use for storage this way.
