Kill Pirates Quest
There is a quest given on space stations to kill X number of pirate ships. I remember it starts with the instructions to fly out of the space station where, I guess . . . . what? Do I find them as usual and engage? Or is there some special action they take because I'm on a quest?
I am familiar with picking off ships in space, just want to know if there's anything special to go with this.
(I'm showing my age with the term quest ^_^)

If this is the mission you get from the guild mission board then when you are in space and have that mission active you should have see a ship with one of three star icons over it. That is your bounty target. Go kill it and the mission will be complete.

If you have left he star system you might need to go back to the system the mission was given in.

Ok, thanks, that should be straightforward.
Without logging in, I can't remember if there's a guild mission for a number of ships, not just one?

Anyway, I'm all in for the achievement for killing pirates.
It's my last achievement, except the uber achievements like visiting the center, etc.

EDIT:I figure I'll fly here and there between planets, staying away from major battles and sentinel ships and trying not to get more than 2 - 3 on me.
I plan to empty down my ship to only the upgrades and sodium nitrate, uranium, etc. so I can get shot down without losing anything important. Then it's all pirates until the achievement's finished. I maybe have only three so far.

For the "Ships Destroyed" milestones, all starships, including the ones that spawn in when you commit acts of piracy, should count. If you're ready to take the extra heat (and the hit to your reputation), target NPC starships to get your numbers up without waiting for pirate encounters.

If it is the missions I am thinking of, you should (after looking around a bit), see an icon with one or more stars. Head to that...I usually use the space button to close distance quickly, and it should immediately take a dislike to you. After engagement, it sounds like you know what to do.

The icon can be kind of hard to note...at least for me. You get used to it after a few encounters.
