Hypersdrive installed but won't work?

I have a hypdrive on my ship and it says 63 ly so I try to jump 14 but it says no htpdrive installed.
Anyone know the issue? my quest is to recruit scientist in a diferent system but can't get to any systems????

I think I just wasted my nanites on the hyperdrive I was just told that the one you buy does not work and will waste a spot in your ship. So I am confused the story took me to get a scientist I have been told you need the scientist to build the hyperdrive but the scientist can only be acquired by using hyperdive. Other forums say this is a known catch 22 and I am shafted and need to delete character is this true?

There is a difference between a hyper drive and a hyper drive upgrade module. You most likely bought a cadmium drive. This allows you to get to red stars and yellow stars instead of just yellow stars but you still need to build a hyper drive with the blue print that you get from the scientist.

To make it an automobile metaphor you installed cruise control on a car that doesn't have an engine yet. Continue following the Awakenings mission and you'll be fine. All you did was lose a little time. The cadmium drive blue print that you bought can still be installed on any other ship you purchase or repair as long as you have the materials.

Hmmm my mission is to get the scientist but cannot he is in another system and that is the only mission I have.

There is a wrong mission branching in the tutorial that needs to be fixed. See picture.
