Scanner doesn't show Plutonium icons, [Pu] rare commodity

Plutonium only shows up on my scanner on rare occasions. Even when I'm close, or mid-range or far away, with the crystals clearly in sight, no Pu icon.

This has made getting off a planet a bit of hassle, and I fear that I will spend most my time scavenging for Plutonium during my conquest of this Galaxy! :]

Any help would be appreciated :)

My scanner does show Pu but only if they are very close which is pointless of course

I wondered the same, and a couple of guys said that only the biggest deposits are picked by the scanner, not those on ground level or those in the mid-size. Seems a bit weird to me, since plant-based minerals etc are shown by the scan. I hope HG rethinks this.

Same problem here. Have reported it to HG, suggest you do too. I also find that looking around sometimes reveals new resources in the scan which weren't there seconds ago... very annoying now that Pu is a much more rare resource.

Plutonium is actually very common on most planets, the problem is that only the very larger 50 unit crystals show up on the scanner and those aren't common. 25 unit crystals will show up if you're right on top of them, but by then you've ussually seen it already. Pretty much comes down to a good methodical visual search.

if you walk about a bit theres tons of small quantity plutonium to be had its not visible from the air now unless its 100 unit crystal took a couple hours to fill my freighter for the exploration ahead

Upgrading your scanner distance does indeed help it pick up on smaller deposits of things.

I've noticed this as well, it has to be a full sized crystal to show up on the scanner. I haven't found any upgrades for the scanner yet so I'm not sure if that will help or just increase your scanning range.

Yeah I'd be curious to find out how the scanner actually works. It seems random as to whether it wil show certain nodes or not, and you can stand in the same place, scan twice, and see different results each time. How does it determine what to show?

I get PU all the time with my scanner what I can't mine is titanium which says I have to have a second level mining beal. Now that' Bull caca.

PU are red crystals, There are usually a bunch of small ones with a large one in the middle mine them all and then run as the drones hate you mining crystals or anything else.

I haven't found a nice planet in this game yet. every planet is toxic, too cold or to hot or radioactive.

And whats with the drones? you kill the ones in that area, it should take some time before other drones are manufac5ured to replace those drones. Not seconds.

the scanner is meant to help you not strand you on a planet because it wont show you the ship fuel in the cave you just passed

i never shows up on mine... no matter the size no matter the location... i have resored to just going thru caves looking for the huge red crystals... i stood in front of one (i think i got like 90 from it when it exploded) and my scanner picked up nothing... i only find Tn, Zn, and Pl.. i can understand iron and carbon... that ♥♥♥♥♥ everywhere

I have noticed that Pu sometimes pops up during or post a scan as some of the environment changes, and it feels like it didn't pick it up. when it is actually picking up an asortment of things that are fully generated around. But it is only the larger crystals.

Scanners pick up plants and huge crystals. Smaller clusters of Pu you can find simply by going in any direction for a minute or two, it's quite abundant on all but Lush planets. It does not appear in caves very frequently.
