In an hour you'll have enough for 2 plants. In another hour, you'll have enough for 4 plants. After the 3rd hour you can have 8 plants.
In other words, with most plants, you can double your crop every 2nd harvest till you have enough plants to give you the production you want.
I ran into a chain of "fix my ♥♥♥♥" missions that all needed lube so I started carrying a stack on me at all times. I'll gather it casually, if I find a dense cluster of wildlife I'll feed a bunch and do other things. they drop it at a good rate. Using your scanner it shows up (for admittedly a ridiculously short time) as a green "!". I've never encountered the despawning problem, but this might happen at nightfall when alot of critters despawn.
One animal with diarrhea yield 6 Coprite per turd. With a little luck I can gather 60 Coprite in about 20 minutes this way. That's 3 units a minute per animal.
One plant cost 60 Coprite and only yields 25 units every 30 minute.
Making this a pain in the arse to get going.. I can deal with grinding mechanics but this is just trolling at best. A simple and pretty much worthless resource shouldn't be this hard to accuirre when I got gold shooting out my arse.
And still most animals that I feed and befriend tend to despawn in an instance if I don't keep them in my line of sight.. How the hell do people deal with this..?
So now I am mixing it up. I get a bunch of kill sents/ blow up depots / kill critters etc missions and hit one of the 2 planets that isnt home, alternating. I grab a few plants as I go. After a couple of trips I harvest and produce. 2 hours later I have quite a lot of money.
BTW you need 2 lube per dome. Part of my harvest is glass & lube stuff, which is eating into my growing space for a while, but I want at least 6 domes.
Sometimes the animals won't poop for 2 minutes, and when they do, the coprite pile just doesn't spawn. There's literally no gameplay involved in this, just looking at the animal waiting.
The only shortcut is to be on the lookout for "trees" that contain coprite as secondary drops, and get the coprite ahead of time.
In my 2nd game I started gathering Cave Marrow from the beginning as well. In my 3rd game I'll definitely do this with coprite as well. I tend to be picky about my homeplanet anyways.
Have never seen Coprite as a secondary yield from trees, but if it's possible then I will definitely be on the look-out from now on.
