What do you do with Rusted Metal?
I find this thing a lot, but I have no idea for what to use it. I don't even know how to craft stuff from resources. So can someone tell me for what is Rusted Metal used?

Rusted metal and strange goo can be sold, but I just go ahead and destroy them. If I ever find out that they are part of crafting chains, only then will I start picking them up.

Its not a bad idea to save the rusted metal and sell it when you first start out.

Every little helps unit wise at the beginning of a save.
You can refine rust into ferrite dust.

It is much easier to run into a cave and collect the artifacts there, or look for Humming Eggs. And sell that stuff.

^This. Use a Portable Refiner to make Ferrite Dust.

Thanks! I was looking for this info, what with the new refiner tech. I thought it had a use hehe.
Good tip.

Until you get a ship teleporter, the refiner is a great way to trim down your inventory on the fly when you're constantly INVENTORY FULL INVENTORY FULL INVENTORY FULL ... :D

... besides, it'll not be long until you find yourself having to pump out hundreds of magnetized ferrite and chromatic metal. :P

They said the refiner would have secret recipes. You just have to try. It's like cooking in the latest Zelda.
I was told to add Rusted Metal to Tritium when refining into Platinum. It reduces the Tritium cost ratio 2:1 instead of 5:1

At game start I keep it, every penny is worth it, but later it's just a nuisance, I throw it away.

i dare to disagree :) rusted metal is "compressed" form of ferrite dust. rust refines to fertite dust at 1:2 ratio.

the green goo can be refined 5 times to obtain nanite clusters. first 4 rouns refine at 1:1 ratio and the last nanite run refines at 5:1 ratio.

if you have double or triple slot refiner you can mix goo with coprite to obtain gold. nice pun HG btw :P - gold from goo and poo.

The strange goo can go through the refiner too, and so can the product. Eventually you'll get nanites.
