Marrow Bulb vs Cave Marrow Catch 22 (SOLVED)
EDIT: I found the solution and it's teeth grinding. Skip to the bottom to find out what it is.

Okay, I was excited to see the new update, butr that lasted all of 20 minutes. So what happened?

They redid Antrium (or whatever it was called) for a quest with the newly hired scientist. He asks for CAVE MARROW. The quest lists it as CAVE MARROW.

Went to the caves. Found the glowy plant. It says MARROW BULB. When you harvest it, the description says it's a bulb harvested from the common Cave Marrow plant.

WHAT?

Guess what folks? You can't use MARROW BULB to progress the quest. It doesn't want it. I got hundreds of the stuff, but the quest is demanding CAVE MARROW which does not exist. Without the Cave Marrow, I can't make a Voltaic Circuit. Without the VC, the quest can't progress.

HEY HELLO GAMES! You should have seen this coming a mile away. You guys don't have a minimum bottom level Q&A guy who at least tries to do the base quests at least ONCE before you guys release an update that forever blocks and breaks the game?

If you search forums around the internet, some folks come out and cheerfully say... "It got renamed to Marrow Bulb. It takes 50 of that to make a VC."

What I want to know is how these people got to make a VC without the blueprint since it got removed, which you need CAVE MARROW to get from the scientist?

I even looked to see if there was a way I could process the Marrow Bulb into Cave Marrow, but the system doesn't allow it.

Freaking Broken on my first forray into what was supposed to be a fun update.

Thanks for the broken code. Thanks again for the unsolvable catch 22. Maybe next year they'll release an update that makes some kind of sense. Or at least got tested, not pretend tested, because dang it folks, that is an ALPHA class bug breaking out right here into an already so-called established game.

Do I sound ticked? Damn right I do. I have a serious base I need up and running again, and here I am, dealing with moron code...

Solution: Go to the journal log where the quests are listed. The marker is on a different quest. Switch it to the Scientist's quest, and it will accept the Marrow Bulb at last. If you don't, the Scientist just stand there and chats with you and ignores the quest. Grrr

wait so we have to actually have a quest selected for it to be active? that's soo annoying. And goes against every RPG in the lat 10 years, selected quest is just to point you in the right direction

Its a bug with the quest, but yeah the solution to get it to kick in was selecting it as the active quest on the mission page. I figured it out by accident also, thankfully It only wasted 20 min of my time.

It's not just this quest. I had the exact same issue with turning in Voltic Cells to the Overseer. Until I made the quest the active one, he wouldn't take them.

Your solution(s) don't work for me. I have the quest activated but the scientist still doesn't give me the blueprints. The overseer did give me the task and told me to talk to the scientsit, but that's as far as it goes. If I remember correctly, I got the "Return to the scientist" quest just after I recruited him, so before I even talked to the overseer about the cells in the base. Maybe those 2 quests cancel each other out or something. Anyway, any other workaround besides activating the scientist quest before talking to him? I also rebuilt the terminals and the whole base (but by rebuilding the 2 guys appeared as well, so no real resetting I guess): Also warped out and in, quit and reloaded, nothing helped... And it IS the marrow bulbs, right?

funny and sad for me... my woes started right before this part of the game progress...
i started a new save for v1.3... and i've warped 14 times now.

after the 5th warp i got the quest to find a scientist...

and 9 warps later... no korvax systems... 9 geks and 1 vykeen.

So I switched to playing the main quest, which at some point ("Null, The Stranger") sent me back to the scientist to teach me how to make "Mind Arc". Of course he is still in that non communicating state and therefore just boke my game.
