Edit: This update did mess up saves a bit, where not everything was marked correctly as learned, or not learned. So some people lost stuff they originally had.
The upgrades are randomized, sometimes you can buy the weapons, sometimes upgrades, sometimes both.
YOu can however find blueprints the same old way, its just more rare, by finding manufacturing facilities, or abandoned buildings. The manufacturing facilities (the buildings you gotta blow the doors open on), still give blueprints to random tech, sometimes nanites.
You never want anything else than maxed Phase Beam for defending freighters due to accuracy issues (is not that you miss your target, but you have all the chances to hit defenders or the freighter / cargo itself which will turn everyone hostile as well as bringing sentinels reinforcements). Upgraded Photon Cannons are a beast on their own and can be safely used in most combat situations as well, with cautious near freighters / other ships that are not enemies.
Anelyn, Ive already completed all the tasks from my Armorer after the Foundation update, he has no new missions for me. Also, like I said, I had one of the upgrades he'd taught me installed on my ship but it disappeared after the Pathfinder update. I guess pulse-autofire was too OP?
