How to find "Extreme" Planets
I have visited numerous planets but none of them are showing up as "EXTREME". I need to finish my Survival Milestone so I can continue with the Space Anomaly dialogues, but somehow I can't find any extreme planets...

Try to get to a blue star system if you can, they seem to have a bit higher instance of extreme planets. Other than that it's pretty hit and miss how soon you will find one, it can take many jumps sometimes. Also remember that increased sentinels or it having red lettering in the planet description for sentinels, this also counts for that achievement.

Gek speed to you traveler~

most planets with pearls, cubes, etc are 'extreme' sentinel planets, which counts and they can be scanned from space to see that.

Yeah, of course you do.

AFAIK all planets can be extreme, even barren ones. They are extreme in 2 ways: for sentinels or for local weather. When you land watch carefully the information you get: You may hear something like "Extreme Sentinel Planet" or "Extreme Hazard Planet". Also the written info appear in red text.
Hostile sentinels usually protect valuable items that you can find, but better have a decent multi-tool...

There's no reliable way to tell from space if a planet is extreme, you have to go there and land.
As for the Milestone points, once you have landed, don't leave the planet or you will have to start again the challenge.

The milestone progression continues to tick along regardless to whether you leave the planet or not. Your "x time" in extreme conditions can be viewed in your Journey tab, where you can see it accumulate.

Hum..No, you'll have to start all over if you go say to level 6 or 7. So it's not worth spending time if you don't go straight to level 10 which is the maximum. Also there's nothing in the game to do for such a long time, so the solution is to enter a building and go to sleep RL. You'll then wake-up with the milestone done.

Thanks everyone. I wasn't aware that the "frenzy" sentinel planets also count as "EXTREME". I remembered that I had been on a few extreme weather ones in the past but have not seen one since at least ten or twenty jumps. In anyway I found my "frenzy" planet and am waiting it out right now.

No, there is no starting over required. I completed that milestone across several different planets. Each successive milestone requires xx amount of time, measured in "sol's". This time ticks down whenever you're on the surface of the planet, pauses when you leave the planet, and resumes when you find another extreme planet.

I've watched it closely, and gotten from 1-10, across visiting maybe a dozen or so extreme planets.

My experience was the same. I've accumulated the extreme sols just fine over several different planets.

I play on PC and have this milestone on normal and survival mode and am at level 4 for it on permadeath. The milestone did not seem to be resetting when I leave the planet. I was able to tick up from where I left off every time I landed on an extreme planet. You don't accumulate time while you are in a ship or exocraft. Once you find an extreme planet, you can hang out in a shelter and your time will tick up. There seem to be fewer extreme planets in normal mode. They are pretty common in the survival game. As another player mentioned, if a planet has cubes or pearls, it is more likely to have extreme sentinels. Good luck!

Where is it you watch the "ticking" towards next sols level? I've tried my milestones list, it does not show ticking or incremental advancement towards acheivement in my game. Is that somewhere else to be found?

It doesn't "tick" per se, but if you watch the milestones page for extreme survival, aproximately every 15-20 minutes (or one sol) of being IN extreme conditions, you will see this number go up.
Bikelegs just meant that you can see the number go up, and you can. :)

Oops I play normal mode. Must be diff. Thanks

Yup! Thanks for clarifying.
