Planetary wars

The main thing I feel is still missing is planetary wars. If there could be npcs fighting it out on planetary surfaces whereby the player can go to say the commander of a faction and side with whichever side and battle it out on the surface with various weapons, I'd like to see bullets flying and explosions deforming the terrain etc. There could even be raids on the planet or taking out thieves at a camp etc.

You may be thinking about some other game. There is no need for large scale violence in NMS or any violence basically.

I think there's some lore snippets about the Sentinels actively (violently) "discouraging" anyone from building large cities or fighting large-scale wars anymore.
