Multi-Player is messing up my missions/quests

Had a friend purchase this game and we started a game together, playing a few days now. I am a long time player and have a character very far along and well equipped. I opted to start a new character so we could both play at the same level.

While I'm finding that the majority of play time is solo, appears really that only the Nexus missions are cooperative and all our other missions and quests that our actions do not (in any way) progress the advancement of (other than) Nexus missions.

As I unlock the Artemis character and am directed to a station to pick up my first researcher, I am not getting the dialog from the NPC for him to join my team; instead he just gives me my choice of exosuit resistance mods (radiation, heat, cool, etc) in a forever loop and I can get as many as I like but the quest line (that is active) does not advance.

Also the corrupted sentinal ship mission (forget the actual name) unlocked and had me follow it to another system, but when I got there and landed on the indicated planet nothing triggered. However my team mate on another planet had the broken autophage on his planet that didn't even have shards on it. Going to his location I found the mission point, repaired the autophage and gave him the required Atlantadieum; mission did not progress.

Leaving the group and restarting the game allowed these missions to resume working normally.

Yep- trying turning off multiplayer...things will improve. Put in a REAL bug report via Zendesk if you want HG to actually acknowledge your problem. See the pinned message at the top of bug reporting for the link.

FYI: this game has BASIC MP. Very little is synced and it is best described as playing a SP game with company. About the only functional things you can do is build one person's base together and swap items in your inventory. Talk while playing the game. That is all.
