Cant claim base, why can I build a base computer then?

Plain and simple.. why is the game saying that i can place a base computer (green), letting me build it, interact with it etc.. but then I can't claim the base?

It's saying there's another base.. there isn't one on my HUD for 1000U+ and it's actively letting me build the computer so clearly this is busted

Put in a bug report to Zendesk. What may be happening is discovery services is down or backlogged. Someone has already built a base there but the server has not had to time to update the universe yet so it looks like a free area. Only when the you use the claim base button after building it, does it check and sees another competing claim waiting in the queue.

Same thing happens to me frequently on discovering stuff on a planet. It will let me claim it as first discoverer when it is obvious by all the player icon garbage on the planet that I am not the first to arrive. That usually sorts itself out next time I am in the game, but I get to keep the free nanites so not complaining.
