Crash on Loadup [SOLVED]
I tried launching NMS from the steam library window. The listing for NMS in the window changed from "No Man's Sky" to "No Man's Sky - Running". After a few seconds it switched back to saying "No Man's Sky". I checked my computer's processes list and ran NMS again. The behavior in Steam repeated and I did not observe a new listing for any process on the processes list.
I entered the Steam directory for NMS on my computer (C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\No Man's Sky). I found a folder called Binaries, and within it was NMS.exe, which appears to be the excecutable for NMS. I tried to execute it and got an error that said something along the lines of "MSVCR100.dll missing". I looked it up, and this is part of the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package.
Through my Google-Fu, I found this page [https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26999], which holds the downloads for the above mentioned C++ package. I clicked "download" and clicked the correct file (32 bit people choose the top one that says "_x86" at the end, 64 bit people choose the one that says "_x64" at the end). I ran the executable that was downloaded for this and tried to run NMS.exe from the Steam directory when it was finished.
This time I had an error message that said something like "Steam is not running or your license is invalid". I was running Steam at the time, so I just ran it from the Steam Library listing. It ran and oh my gods how beautiful it was.
I hope this report helps somebody, but I won't be answering questions on it for a while if anyone posts them because I'm going to stick my head into this game like it's and IV line of joy going straight into my eyeballs.
tl;dr: If your game doesn't run, look for the NMS.exe in the Steam directory and see what error messages it gives you.
