Is there a safe way to refine?

I always refined my mats at my home base but now those are disappearing too. Does anyone know a way to refine mats without watching the timer?

Some people suggest that turning off multiplayer fixes the issue. Haven't tested it myself though. If turning off multiplayer isn't really an option, I'm afraid you have no choice but to wait until it's finished.

I deactivate multiplayer. Put stuff into the refiner on my planet base. Then do a manual save. I can then leave the base, warp around, even log off and on, and the contents are still there. Never lost anything with this method, except for when I played with my husband in multiplayer and forgot that I had stuff in my refiner.

If you have a freighter base, I find that if I start the refiner(s) when I first show up, by the time I debrief frigate missions, transfer the spoils to storage, and set up new missions, the refiners are usually done or close to done.

I always play with MP off. Never had them disappear because I was not watching them intently, but I have not done any multi-refiner action on my expedition save. Always a good idea to hit the save button after you start the refiners...just in case.

No. If you refine something, you need to hang around in that area until the refining is done.

I found (from reading this forum post) that turning off multiplayer in the network settings and then reloading the game fixes this bug.

So, after further testing with multiplayer turned off. I warped, and the items in my refiner still disappear. Another thing, i tried to run two refiners at the same time on my freighter, as soon as i started the second refiner, the items in the first refiner disappeared. At this point, refiners on freighters are quite broken.

Thank you for the update. I think i will just keep my mats untill they fix it.
I also did some testing, because before the last freigther update I had a very nice exploit. If conditions were right old inputs to refiners were appearing without end.
A long time ago I had space goo in my refiners and they disappeared, but I noticed that if i have a save point on my freigther and reloaded on that manual save there was a chance the mats got back into the refiner but if you took them out, they were still there. Essentially an infinite duplication glitch. When i searched for this glitch it always involved multiplayer, but at the time i played single player so I am not exactly sure how it worked.
A year ago (or longer) they said they fixed that issue but I had it working untill now, only because the new freighter update removed my refiners on board.
I tried to replicate it, but no luck so far.
